speed question

I can't seem to find an answer using the search feature.

How are the speed ratings determined for OSFM rosters? It seems like all my guys have low speed ratings

Any background would be appreciated

Re: speed question

So 131 views and no response.

Does this mean there is no method behind the madness?(aka they just guess a number they want)?

I know that alot of the other attributes are determined with calculators and statistical trends.

So speed...not so much??

speed question

Not sure how they did it I'm using for my roster speed rating on fan graphs mixed with the wSB rating to determine speeds

Can't remember specifics guys like Hamilton have 99 speed see Gordon I believe only two that fast

Bourjes 86 speed

Tavares was like 65-68 speed

Holliday and Craig 45-58 speed can't remember specifics

Molina was in the 20s

So pretty accurate to real life on the testing I did.

What exactly are you doing to come up with speed ratings? I hate the speed ratings in the game and want to do my own but can't find like any graphs ranking the fastest players in baseball or with a speed stat. Please help me out! By the way MIZ!

Thank you! Is there any formula you are using or way to combine spd and wSB that helps you come up with speed ratings like how to determine their speed in the game? Like how did you come up with say a 78 speed for peter burjous. I'm being annoying I know.

I was checking these out yesterday...and they are definitely better than nothing.

However, the SPD score is made up of the following 4 components:
-Stolen Base Percentage
-Frequency of Stolen Base Attempts
-Percentage of Triples
-Runs Scored Percentage

So I don't know how well this actually measures a players actual SPEED...but it is a good reflection for the base stealing attribute.

I wish there was a resource to find out home plate to first base speed for everyone...if I had that then I could definitely throw together something awesome for the speed attribute.

When u combine it with wSB it actually turns out realistic.. The formula is

If speed above 4.5
Speed rating x wSB + 65
Even if negative wSB make it a positive.

If speed is 4

Speed rating x -wSBx1+ 65

If speed is 3

Speed rating x -wSBx3 +65

If speed is below 2
Speed rating x -wSBx4+65

Every one I tested came out realistic.
