Quick Counts .... nope

G'day peeps!

Many of us don't have time to play several games a day ..... or even one full length game. Quick counts come into play and it's a god send ... or is it?

I didn't think I would like quick counts, but after giving it a go I sorta fell in love with it. I could play several games a day and get decent results doing so. It didn't seem to take much away from the game and I thought I was having just as much fun using QC as I would with a normal game ..... that is until I turned quick counts off for a game 3 days ago.

I turned quick counts off for a change of pace and now I can never go back. I'm able to take the first pitch, work the pitch count, bunt, steal, take my time and enjoy the game for what it is - the best sports sim ever made.

I've come to the conclusion that this game needs to be played as if you are in the game. It just doesn't feel right (for me) when I rush it just to get a game in. Taking my time to enjoy the atmosphere, the cut scenes, the overall feel of the game is unmatched by any other game on the market and I highly doubt any studio will ever come close to The Show.

I'm not bashing Quick Counts. I think QC's work great for people that want to play more games per day or want to finally complete a season and I applaud SD for implementing the feature into the game ..... it just isn't for me.

Not really trying to make a point or certainly not trying to start a flame war, but I'm just curious if others have fell in love with Quick Counts only to fall out of love with them just as fast?

Cheers

Pretty much did the same thing you have. Played QC exclusively the first week+ then tried a full game "for the sake" of it and never went back. I also think the overall numbers/stats are more realistic in a full game. Strikeouts and walks seem to be a bit above average in QC played games. It feels like the offense is a bit inflated as well, when compared to a full game while using the same sliders and difficulty.

In the end, I don't mind playing the game in its entirety. In previous MLB games it took me 8-10 calendar months to complete one full season. This is one sports game where I actually enjoy taking my time.

Re: Quick Counts .... nope

I'm wavering, using QC right now but I have some guys really struggling on my team. Brian McCann is hitting .187 with 0hr 8RBI's first week of May. A good 90% of the time he is getting up with a 0-2 or 1-2 count. I get punched out when I try and work the count back even, a lot of pitches painting the black.

Re: Quick Counts .... nope

TO BE HONEST i used full game but i then said let me try quick counts. and i havent turn back. i feel it just as realistic as full game. and im actually hearing commentary i am not used to hearing. i love quick counts. with quick counts and broadcasting on im still playing long games because im not skipping the cutscenes. kudos to scea for this mode. now if i can just find a team to do franchise with i be even more happy.

Re: Quick Counts .... nope

I'm more of a sim gamer than most, so QC was never an option for me. It just goes against everything I love about baseball. But like you said, I'm glad they added it, I think there are people out there that will really like it, especially guys that aren't hardcore baseball fans (or sim gamers, such as myself).

Re: Quick Counts .... nope

Quick counts is a great idea that just needs more options. It is the first year it has been implemented so hopefully over the next few years it will include options like choosing to bunt before a count is generated.

Re: Quick Counts .... nope

I like QC if only for the fact that it helps me draw more walks. Now if I could have it where I hit using QC and pitch not, as it seems that 90% of the time my pitcher is on the wrong side of coin, I would be a very happy camper.
