Starting a RTTS as a Catcher

I already have a RTTS as a SS but I kind of want something different. I was wondering what it's like to play as a Catcher on defense. Has anyone tried it? Are you calling and basically playing the whole game?

Re: Starting a RTTS as a Catcher

I've given this a go myself, it seems you only call situations where there are runners aboard or there's a pop-up or steal attempt in the offing.

You get to call the pitch, position your glove where you want it delivered, then you have a split second to react after the pitch is thrown to position your glove where the crosshair appears.

You'll get points for blocking pitches in the dirt amongst other things, you'll lose points for dropping pitches.

I can't compare to last year as I didn't play catcher in '13 as I found it boring when it was introduced in '12, but it's a big improvement over that to say the least.

Re: Starting a RTTS as a Catcher

I've been doing a RTTS as a catcher while I wait for the hybrid rosters to be complete. I like the way it is this year. You are in the field whenever there is a steal, bunt, or popup. You are also on the field whenever there is a guy in scoring position (runner on 2nd or 3rd). It pretty much all depends on your pitcher. If he can keep guys off the basepaths, it'll be a quick game. If he struggles, you can be in the field on many at-bats.
