Hitting preference?

So I have been using timing hitting but it seems my PCI will often be off. Thinking of switching to zone. What do you prefer to use when hitting? Also what are the advantages/disadvantages of using each?

Re: Hitting preference?

Pure analog. Buttons are ok but I feel my timing is better with analog

I like Zone or Zone Plus Analog, because I have more control. It is still sim based, but there is also more user input and skill involved.

I couldn't ever do Timing honestly.

Re: Hitting preference?

I use strictly timing and will always use it. It feels the most natural to me probably because I've been using it since NES days. Also, for whatever reason (and I've said this a lot) the PCI for '13 and '14 are so completely random that it's extremely annoying. Supposed to be based on ratings but that doesn't really help the randomness. Don't know why it was changed from '12 but it makes it frustrating to say the least.

Re: Hitting preference?

Pure analog, no guess pitch, no strike zone, no hot zone, 10 pitch speed.

Analog hitting gives you way more feel, but takes a lot of getting used to. It adds the element of timing twice (the load and the swing). You have to load earlier--and each hitter takes a different load step so timing changes--but you have the luxury of actually swinging much later than button hitting. It is also much easier to check your swing. And, I don't care what anyone says, you have the ability to roll the stick to open up hips or stay closed on pitches away. I've been told that this is a placebo effect, but it sure feels like I'm controlling it.

Re: Hitting preference?

Thanks for the input. Does anyone feel zone might be a little too easy? My RTTS player has 83 plate vision and it seems my PCI is huge.

Re: Hitting preference?

Does anyone feel like timing is cheap? In RTTS I was using zone (with dynamic difficulty up to HOF), but my pitch reading and timing are way better than my left stick ability. I felt like I was holding myself back so much. I just played a couple games with just timing, but now I feel like it could be a little bit too easy and mainly getting a hit isn't "all me" so it feels less rewarding. Anyone have any suggestions or tips for zone?
