Control questions

Hi All - I'm new to the game and trying to figure out how to do a few basic things which are not obvious from experimenting:

- How do you make a sliding or diving catch? For instance I was playing third and a hard grounder was hit down the line by the bag. As I ran to my right I needed a sliding/diving type of move to get to the ball but wasn't sure what to do...?

- How can I slightly move my starting fielding spot? For instance let's say I am playing RTTS as shortstop and I see its a fastball on a lefty and I think they'll likely hit the ball more to my right. In this case during the windup I'd like to start moving a bit to my right, but I don't appear to have any control over my player until the ball is hit?

- How do I instruct my infield to shift left or right, or to play in for a play at the plate vs to play deep for a double play?

Thanks!

Unless you have the option set for one button dive/jump you hit R2 to dive for a ground ball or R1 to jump at a ball over your head

You have an opportunity to move your position before the pitcher gets set to begin his wind-up sometimes you cannot move but 9/10 you'll be able to move as long as the pitcher has not begun his delivery

If you press up on the d-pad it will bring up a short menu where you can go into your bullpen, make substitutions, and set defense.

Hope this helps!

Yes it helps A LOT! Thank you! Is there a way to tell a base runner (including yourself without manually timing it) to steal on the first move?

From the d-pad menu can you also do things like set a hit and run or a double steal etc? If not how/where are those controlled?

Re: Control questions

Yeah hold the left stick toward the runner and press L2 before the pitcher begins his delivery. But I don't think it works for RTTS. And no you can't set up hit and run or double steal like that you just have to send the runners with the L2 button like a normal steal.
