RTTS Catcher questios

I have a few questions regarding RTTS Catcher:

- I play with manual catch. Catching pop ups and picking up bunts work like they should, but balls that are thrown at me will be caught autmatically. No Halo. Is that a Bug? It worked on 1B in '13.

- There is no meter when trying to throw out basestealers (analog throwing). Are these throws completely attribute based?

- When catching pop ups you can not see the ball halo as an Infielder. How do you guys handle the catch timing. Is there a button for a different view like for the outfielders? As it is now catching a pop up is more like guessing game.

- Snap throws to the bases are a real pain with analog throwing. Your either moving the camera around instead of throwing or your player starts running in that direction. Are catcher pick offs no real option in this years game?

- Did SCEA remove power and contact hitting for pure analog this year? Can't see how you activate that.

Any help is appreciatet. Thanks!

1. No, I think they decided to make it automatic as this is a new installment into the game when playing that position.

2. I can't answer the question completely because i don't think button throwing has a meter either for Catcher. Although with analog throwing, the meter is actually under your player in regular games so this maybe the case also in RTTS.

3. Pretty much, although i think i read or saw something about a first person view.....unsure about this though so dont hold me to it.

4. I haven't tried this with analog throwing, actually haven't played much catcher in RTTS lol. I know with button throwing in regular games that you can snap throw to other bases behind the runners.

5. Power and Contact Hitting still exist for Pure Analog hitting. Its the same buttons as with Timing or Zone hitting, square for power (controller should vibrate if you have the option on), x for normal (controller wont vibrate unless its not the selected swing version), circle for contact (controller should vibrate if you have the option on). I hardly ever use power swing as i'm usually not ahead in the count lol. but after selected your swing type, you still have to use the analog stick to swing. square wont swing the bat but instead select the swing type to be used.

Re: RTTS Catcher questios

First of all thanks for the quick response!

- To your 1st answer:
I should have made it clear that I was talking about catching throws in defensive plays like throws from the outfield to the catcher. It's pretty exciting to catch the close plays manually so I would like to have that back. I enjoyed that as 1B in '13.

- About the meter on throwing out basestealers, maybe one of the devs could shed some light on this?

- For the power/contact button: I don't get the icons for it on the lower right side of the screen so i don't know if this option is active. I tried the power swing in pre game BP but I couldn't see a difference.

ah, i thought you where talking about when the pitcher pitches, my bad on that one lol.

as for the power/contact button, i get it when i use Pure Analog batting which is my normal set up now. I'm sure the square, x, and circle buttons still change the type of swing used. My controller vibrates when i push one of those buttons after selecting the pitch type.

Re: RTTS Catcher questios

I found something that i would call a camera bug:

When catching a pop up between home plate and the backstop the camera does not turn around. Sounds good at first, but the camera does not zoom out or pan back so you can not see the catch region indicator! You just don't know where to run! If you decide to start running towards the backstop, the camera will move back with you but stops at the backstop and you are "crashing" into the camera. My upper body was filling about 2/3 of the screen and i couldn't even see the ball droping. Absolutely unplayable with or without manual catch.

Contact/power button works, it's just not showing in regular RTTS games. It does pop up in batting practice.

Still don't know about the throwing meter for steals.

Re: RTTS Catcher questios

After playing about 60 games as a catcher in RTTS i have to say that there are still to many situations where you have to call pitches. 1st inning man on second no outs. Next one walks. Next one smashes a rbi double. Next batter walks. Single for bases loaded, and so on.........

Please limit pitch calling to innings 7-8-9, runner in scoring position and less then a 5 run difference. Triple the points you get for pitch calling relatet plays so we get about the same amount of points like before.
It still takes 40 min in resultplay mode and 25-30 in fastplay to finish an average game as a C.
