Live the Life trade request

When will I be able to request a trade? Right now I'm not proven and my team can't get enough value but how do I know when I'm proven?

Re: Live the Life trade request

It took me until the final year on my rookie contract before I got traded. And the times before that I had asked to be traded and told that I have no value ended up getting me demoted a line.

Funny thing is that when I did finally get traded they only got a 2nd and a 4th round pick for me. I was rated 92 and won the hart and the conn smythe the previous two years in a row. I'm guessing no one rated similarly could match up salary wise which explains them not trading me sooner.

The only thing keeping me playing the mode is to see how free agency works. The team I am with now probably has matching rights but I'm interested how the cpu handles the free agency period.

Good luck.

Re: Live the Life trade request

I'm only in my second year right now. In my rookie season I recorded 48 points in 44 games. I've made the game extremely difficult so that I don't end up being the "superstar" or have crazy stats. I'm hoping EA didn't design this mode to just produce only superstars. In the offseason the Sharks (my team) signed a bunch of forwards and I believe this is effecting me being called up. I'm doing extremely well in the AHL right now and I still haven't gotten the call.

Also, I have a question. I put human injuries up to the max because my player would never get hurt. I now see my player going down a bit more but my injuries only last 2 days then I'm healed. I got a minor concussion and I was only hurt for 2 days...seems a bit crazy. I don't get why EA cant make the mode so you can be an average player and miss games just like anyone else can.

I'm having fun with this mode but I need out of San Jose!!!!

Re: Live the Life trade request

As far as not becoming a 'Superstar' player goes, that really comes down to the limitations you impose on yourself.
Seeing as how you can go as high on any attribute you want, it really comes down to earning those experience points and applying them.
I try to keep it realistic, myself. Playing as a defensemen, I wouldn't jack up too many of my offensive stats except for having a cannonade of a slap shot, good passing, etc.
Same thing goes for an offensive player. I won't build him to have ridiculous defensive attributes knowing that scoring is my mission.
I know a lot of players enjoy the grind up to making their player the best in the NHL, but I like to keep my guys at decent attributes so it is my play that keeps me in top lines and not just my overall.

What I mean is EA Sports makes it a mission to get your player advanced to the top line as quick as possible. In my rookie season I was promoted to the first line in a very short amount of time. By me going to the first line meant that Logan Couture got moved to the second line and Joe Pavelski was moved to the third line. BUT if you have a few bad games its right back down to the minors. It works the other way to, if you have a couple good games then you move up in the depth chart way way way to fast.

And then there's injuries. Every other player in the league gets hurt and misses a short amount of time or a long amount of time. I've played an entire 68 game OHL season and never got hurt and I played an entire season in the NHL and AHL combined and missed 1 total game. It just seems EA sets you up for success quite easily. I've made the game hard so this season (my second season) I've only been called up once for 4 games then I was sent down. This is what I like because I have to keep trying hard to get back up, but I also want to have the risk of injury and EA tries to prevent that.

And again...I'm having so much fun with Live the Life but I just wish they would make it harder to advance to the top line.

It's impossible to stay on the 3rd or 2nd line. Either you move up or you get sent back down. Makes no sense why you can't remain on the second or third line. I've been on the 1st line and a few bad games got me sent back down to the minors.

I have to agree with that assertion, I by no means am a great player but the stats i'm putting up in my 3rd season just boggle the mind. 58 games played 64 goals, 33 assists. I am on a line with M.Koivu and J.Pomminville and we are 123 in points for the whole league.

The funny thing is that it's not easy, per se, but after a couple of hundred games in the mode you kinda figure out what works and what doesn't. What works doesn't work 100 percent of the time, but the 50 percent it does work leads to these inflated stats.

Furthermore, I think the game mode itself is designed to allow you to succeed as a hockey legend. Look at the milestones and accomplishments that are there to be earned. Sometimes I think the mode has already decided what's going to happen i'm just skating, hitting and shooting.

The last thing is that for all the unlikeliness of a 21 yo in his 3rd year in the league with Back-to-Back Stanley Cups, Hart, and ConnSmythe trophies, and reaching the 300 point milestone is, the game is fun.

So long as you don't get caught up in that Sim realistic thing. I admit it's tough for me some times.
