Is running a pure spread offense in madden cheese?

I have always enjoyed running from shotgun sets it just fits better with my style. I struggle passing from undercenter an don't like to use them alot. So I go ahead an play like a normally do an get absolutely blasted by the other guys in the league saying omg thats cheese an to boot me an what not. I would like to get others thoughts on it....

No, a shotgun spread offense is not "cheese". That's football.

I mean, are you running the same play out of shotgun every time? As long as someone is mixing it up, I don't think they can be called cheese.

I agree with Jare bear, if that's your preference on offense then hell no that's not cheese, the guys your playing probably doesn't know much about football and wonders why their 4-3 D getting beat. I eat cheese, try all you want I'll find a way to shut it down especially running the same play. Mix it up, run in your spread...it may be akward to defend for some ppl or make them uncomfortable but that's the point.

Re: Is running a pure spread offense in madden cheese?

well it depends on other factors, however i personally cant think of 1 nfl team where ALL of their runs come from shotgun sets. Nor do i really know any that run shot gun 100% of the game. so on that front , could seem alittle cheesy(unsim because it dont happen in real life on sundays , thus they call it cheesy). Because most likely the opponent (if they have any sense when they see your offensive set) is picking dime, nickel, dollar , or quarters ( not 4-3) to combat the amount of receivers you have on the field. so that makes running alot easier when you only have 1 lb to contend with , maybe 2 tops if they call nickel. you have 5 linemen at all times, if they run dime d or quarters or even dollar, your runs will work very well as you have enough or more than enough blockers to get u an easy 5 yards everytime unless they have cbs who have really high block shed. Personally i wouldnt run shotgun spread all game, for the fact i dont know of 1 NFL team that does that for 100% of their plays, yes some run it alot , but not all game long. so i think that is why your being called out for it , i am assuming your in a SIM league , not a lobby ball league since they are calling your playstyle cheese. Again SIM leagues require you to play as you see it on sundays. and again i state no NFL team i know runs shotgun spreads all for 100% of their offense.

Cheese is 7 HB screens in a game for 132 yards (140 YAC), while also running 5 FB dives on every short yardage situation, and quick snapping every offensive play

Yes this happened in one of his games today, and yes he was booted for it, and it came AFTER a long talk with the commish about mixing up playcalling and how to play sim football

His idea of spread is running the same run plays and lots of screens.
