Defense too tight?

Am I the only one who has noticed the defense playing too tight no matter what? If I'm rondo they will pick me up at the half court line and it leads to an easy blow by lay up. There will be no help defense since everyone is playing deny on their man.

I've raised help defense slider, on ball defense, and def awareness and can't seem to fix it. This is pretty game breaking for me to play against the CPU since I can seem to get an easy uncontested lay up every time. I think it's because of the "play physical" Points of Emphasis which causes the CPU to hug their opponent.

Has anyone noticed this and has anyone fixed this?

That's what I thought. Or they want is to play team ball, but our teammates just sit with the ball until the clock is at 6 seconds

Re: Defense too tight?

i have the opposite problem on my teammates. they play tight on me but sag off like crazy on my team. the problem is that when i pass to a clearly open teammate (since they are so far away) that the defender closes out insanely fast or my teammate just passes up the open shot.

the ai needs a great deal of work for next year.

Re: Defense too tight?

I changed most of the teams POE defense to 'conservative' or 'nothing inside' with the flex being 'physical' or 'perimeter shots'.

(HOF) help defense on 30, on-ball defense on 35, speed 41, quickness 58

It has helped me a lot. But the cpu still helps from the strong corner too hard tho.

Re: Defense too tight?

Was this just one game or multiple?

Re: Defense too tight?

Yes its because of POE and "play physical". Most of the CPU teams switch to that even if you change it in the coach rosters. Its annoying
