X1/PS4 Madden Graphics pale in comparison when compared to MLB The Show14, NBA2k14

I really hope EA Tiburon realizes how far behind their next generation football game is lacking in the visuals department...not only do visuals make a game more fun and exciting to play but it gives the sport itself its due recognition to its fans...NFL deserves more than this. I look over the new MLB The Show screenshots for PS4 and i am blown away ....i look at NBA2k14 on X1 and PS4 and i am blown away...but when i look at Madden on next gen...i simply do not have any of those feelings.

People say gameplay matters most...i disagree..i say both are required to make that fun and exciting and complete game both need to exist this day and age. Animations are another thing that is so far behind with Madden...with all that money they have put into R&D..these animations are the best they can do? I look at an end of play in next gen madden and after the whistle blows i still see the players pivot like robots, you score a TD and cross the goalline..there is still that split second when the player stands starring off into the stars before going into its celebration when it should flow completely from one animation to the celebration animation, these little things kill the atmosphere of this game and i could go on and on..nothing is natural in next gen madden...the visuals are dated ..the animations are the same as all of last gen..the presentation is the same as last gen. Whats going on here? There is no longer any excuse because look at NBA2k and MLB The Show on next gen systems...this just proves there are serious issues at Tiburon right now. There are people there right now that should not be the person in that position of that studio that is making a game for the greatest sport on earth. I mean no disrespect but if you don't got it, you dont got it. There is some serious shuffling and re-working of the talent that needs to be done at Tiburon. Enough is enough..after seeing a few shots of MLB the Show on PS4 with their first year effort...there simply is no more excused..two other developers are doing it with NBA and MLB...why not NFL?

Surely EA has to be a bit concerned with how competent some of the guys over at Tiburon are with their skills at graphics/animations/presentation because something is not right with what we have with Madden on these next gen systems. Its not ugly but its not "next generation" material at all..it simply is a brighter, higher resolution version of last gen madden..nothing more as far as visuals go. If this is not setting off alarm bells at EAsports headquaters..what will? Have they even seen NBA2k or MLB The Show on PS4? Its literally a generation ahead of next gen madden.

I just really have to wonder how competent the graphic and animation artists are that are sitting behind the computers at EA Tiburon Madden team. NFL should be represented with the utmost respect and there for we should have a beautiful looking next gen football game that is fun and exciting to play. WHile next gen madden is not terrible...NFL should be represented much much higher than Tiburon is doing...again there is a weak link there..a serious weak link and not just one.

I am giving EAsports Tiburon one more Madden game before i am done. I just hope EAsports looks into this and keeps EA TIburon/Madden team under the microscrope from this point on to make sure they deliver a true next gen looking NFL football game. Im not talking about gameplay in here ...that has its own thread for discussion. Im talking about graphics and animations and presentation.

These are the things EA Tiburon needs to nail down with their next Madden game.

1. Overall graphics

2. Animations (man the animations are so dated and old in this game)

3. Atmosphere/Presentation (no kind of half time stuff is uncalled for)

Not to beat on a dead horse ...but with all due respect i do sit back and wonder what a NFL2k game would look like today. My heart tells me it would be something so far ahead of what Madden is now that it almost makes me sick to my stomach knowing that the greatest sport on earth is being lead by a lackluster vision that does nothing for the fans of this sport and make no mistake about it...NFL has the biggest loyal fan base of any sport on earth...to dish out a next gen NFL game like we have right now is unacceptable. I really hope the NFL see's the light one day...that or ...EAsports shuffles up the team behind Madden because im sick and tired of being sick and tired of seeing other sports games literally an entire generation ahead of Madden and this has been going on since 2005 to be brutally honest.

That is an entire generation ahead of Madden. For comparison:




I mean, not only does it look an entire generation behind, they don't even have the team colors right! (look at the 49ers pants color. It's shade isn't even close, and the look how different the helmets look from the pants, and how brown they are. This is horrible.) Look how far off that pic is to real life in terms of color:






But what's most important is, look how much more amazing NBA 2K is. How does this happen?




*also: no one will EVER confuse NBA2K14 (next gen) with NBA2K13 (last gen). If only the same thing could be said about Madden.


I know straight complaining is often dismissed, but will someone please explain WHY this is the way it is? Why is it that other next gen sports games are light years further along in graphics than Madden? What is the reason?

Both baseball and basketball have fewer players on the court/field of play at a time. Also, both sports are more known as star-laden sports as football in the real world.

Mostly because the players aren't wearing masks or helmets, but they are also easier to identify during an actual game.

For the NFL there is SO MUCH going on at once that it is harder to make certain things pop out graphically for video games.

Was the first effort underwhelming? Maybe. I never played it.

But again, I personally think baseball and basketball games are easier to glorify the graphics when compared to football or even soccer (fifa) for that matter.

Done it, played it, bored of it. The graphics of last gen don't do anything for me. I don't own a next gen console but the videos I've seen is slightly a step above current gen. You can't compare sport games to each other, only to the previous generation of each individual title.

I don't think that holds much weight, especially now, in this day and age. Even the extra guys on the bench in NBA 2K14 look as good as the guys on the court. They couldn't even find a way to make jersey's appear to move, like the other game did years ago. From a graphical standpoint, Madden CAN be a hell of a lot more realistic, but they don't HAVE to put the money in to make it be so, because it will sell regardless. I don't buy for a second that 22 players on the field is holding back the graphical aspect of them. Not now. Not with these consoles.

I don't think Madden's graphics blew anyone away like some of the games have, but I think they'll step it up even more with Madden 15. I'm never a huge fan of getting some games after their first go round on a new system. Hopefully, this year's game will go to the next level all around. I'm looking forward to it!
