I know I can play only important games, my question is how, how many games would that equate to for the year?

It's usually random for most teams, it goes by your rivals and star players at your position. At least that's how it was on the previous gen 2k.

Depends on your team and your position. Your key games are against good division rivals and superstar matchups. So if you play C, there aren't many superstar C's, but at PF, there are many more. And if you are on a good team, you have more rival teams....the Lakers have more rivals than the Bobcats. Also toward the end of the season if you are in the bottom of the playoff race or close to winning the division, those last games become key games too. So usually you only have to play around 20 - 30 games.

I was a PG on the Pacers, so my key games were:
Bulls
Knicks
Pistons
Cavs (Irving)
TrailBlazers (Lillard)
Warriors (Curry)
Clippers(Paul)
Celtics(Rondo)

Jackson Ellis teams are NOT Key games unless he is on a rival. So if you want to play those you need to play every game before that...same for the All Star game.

I'm assuming the games I don't play are simulated properly for my players stats?

I had games with my 99ovr SF who averages 32ppg who would score only 2-3 baskets in simulated games, which leads to multiple meetings with the GM over your recent performance.

In the end I find if you want to win MVP and other personal titles, it's best to limit simming. I don't like to play every game so I look at the calendar a lot and see when key games are coming up so if I feel like simming through 2-3 games before a key game I can, instead of simming 9-10 games in a row
