Owner or Coach Mode: Possible to be successful as full sim?

I wanna play with Owner Mode (I was thinking of moving the Raiders back to LA or bringing a team to Brooklyn) but I find it odd that I have to run practices to get XP.

It's not that I don't want to play any games, but as an owner, why am I--in essence--getting my hand in the dirt? Is there anyway to mitigate this issue?

Also, tips on revitalizing the Raiders?

It isn't that difficult. It is a little easier as a coach because if you crate your own you can establish passing/running ratios which make creating offense a lot easier.

As an owner really the most important thing is staying in positive money. You lose a lot of advantages early having to wait until midseason post year one to make roster moves. So if you move to LA you might have a few bad years. I tend to have a lot of trouble not getting 10 million in the negative until my team gets good enough.

The raiders I've done a few rebuilds. I always stick with Pryor. Just takes a lot of work. Idk about Darren McFadden. I like him but he really isn't worth the money to resign most of the time.
Play marcel Reese at TE.
Play Lamar Houston at DT. I tend to resign him despite his big money. He is a stud at DT. The secondary has a lot of potential. Basically you have to upgrade the DEs and the OL. I really really like Sio Moore and Kaelin Burnett. I play Sio at MLB and he develops pretty damn good. He is a high 80s-mid 90s star for me.

I tried to do this exact thing last week and after starting the season 2 and 6, I wanted to punt a baby. Lolll

How do you handle all the cap space? Do you just ignore it and try to go full draft or you grab some big names?

In free agency in the offseason, I try to stay away from the big names. They want so much money you will be screwed down the road especially when your players develop. I try to lock in the guys I want long term. I am cautious about giving to high of a signing bonus except for the guys I know without a doubt I am not getting rid of. Otherwise I try and try to minimize my use of signing bonuses because when money gets tight, being able to get rid of players without having to take huge cap hits is important. I look for the young guys who are just outside big to medium money range. Getting a guy locked in for a long time for a million and who can develop into solid starters at the least are what I base my teams periphery around.

The problem with full on draft is that the players you develop will want tons of money when their contract is up. It is a crappy feeling having to trade guys you really like and developed so they can beat the crap out of you later. I'd rather focus on a few guys I really want and ensure I get them and rely on signing a few old future HOFers for one year contracts at 5-6 million. That way my cap situation is always open for a while, I get reliable production and if you are an owner, high personality players to fill the coffers with merch sales.

You don't have to practice, you'll still earn XP from the games. Although you'd lose out on a lot of potential XP. One thing to note is that I've read CPU teams do not earn practice XP...not sure if you're playing an offline franchise or online with other people, so if it's offline that means if you don't practice you'll be on the same playing field as the other CPU teams.

The Raiders are a fun team. I had them in last years Madden, and turned them around pretty quickly by just drafting a franchise QB in the 1st RD. It really depends on what kind of QB you want to use. Pryor is valuable as a runner. If you're more of a pocket passing type, you might have better options than trying to develop Pryor. I would leave Houston at LE, he's completely dominant there, plays above his ratings there most of the time. Their cap space is definitely nice. I wouldn't spend every penny, you'll get in trouble that way. Build solid in the draft, and nice pieces from FA, maybe add one big name if you can...a CB or WR to go opposite Moore. Maybe MLB.

He plays above his rating because in there scheme and his player type he isn't a good fit. Idk I don't like having such a slow guy at DE when he can be a valuable interior pass rusher and run stopper

It's amazing how you can replicate someone's experience.....Houston at DT is almost unfair and the MLB are just horrid.....

I'm torn between getting TP to Superstar level or just leaving him at quick and going for there....how much cash should I build up before relocating the team?
