How much of an improvement is current-gen 2K14?

I don't have a PS4 yet and I'm feeling an itch for a basketball game to play. Is current gen 2k14 a good enough jump to justify getting? I generally played the hell out of 2k13 but they were some things that annoyed me (blocks/annoying layup animations/sig skills not activating on level 3). How much of this stuff was fixed for 2k14?

I think they did a good improvement to call it nba 2k13.5. It's got new rosters, much better defense. You can't just cherry pick after a defensive rebound. Most of the time it will result in a turnover or a block. Online teamup has some new rules. If you quit several times on teamup it will give you a 1 minute suspense from playing because you quit. I recently switched over and I'm glad I did. I would get it if I were you

NBA2k14 current gen is by far the best overall gameplay wise of any basketball game to date. Sure its has its flaws, but IMO its worth the purchase. I havent enjoyed a basketball game this much since CH2k8 and NBA2k8, as imo that was the last time there was a complete basketball game put out till now. NBA2k11 had its positives but the non existent Fastbreaks and basically no offensive rebounds along with poor sim stats ruined that game for me. 14 pretty much plays a true simulation game, but Association still has some flaws that the devs continue to ignore.

It has the best gameplay I've seen in a bball game.

Accessory wise it's still trash because they can't grasp the concept of having your My Player wearing white sleeves at home.

It's much improved and harder to play. The annoying part is that they don't have leader boards for online... I still can't believe it. I don't even know if they keep your online quick match record.

Huh? They have leaderboard rankings for current gen. They have all the stats they've always had. It shows your quick match record as soon as you get online.

Gameplay wise it's great, but they decided to make a single player game require a connection to their servers, which are terrible and unreliable. Absolute dips dip****tery.
Expect to be unable to play anything except for quick games more often than not.

Re: How much of an improvement is current-gen 2K14?

I have only played two 2K b-ball games this gen in CH2K8 and NBA 2K11.

2K14 is the best B-ball game I have ever played. Bar none as far as on the court. Off the court Association is still a ton of fun and addictive for me. I use created draft classes (both real and fictional) off 2K share.

The game is highly refined and the pinnacle of the 2K series IMO.

Highly reccomended.
