Week 14: Seattle Seahawks (11-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (8-4)

After last night, there's really no doubting that the Seahawks are the best team in the NFL right now. They've all but clinched the division and they've all but clinched home-field advantage in the NFC.

But it'd be nice to send a message that the defending conference champs aren't ready to relinquish the crown.

Should be a very interesting and tough game. Seahawks haven't played in San Francisco since week 7 of last year, while the 49ers have had to come play in Seattle twice since then. Russell Wilson was still kind of in growth mode last year during that game when he played pretty much the worst game of his career. It will be interesting to see how Russell Wilson does this time around.

This game makes me nervous, but after seeing how we handled New Orleans I'm a little more confident.

Wilson does not like to lose and I think that loss in SF last year still nags him. I think he's going to set out to correct that Sunday.

I think this game and the Panthers@Saints games should be some great football Sunday.

It's going to be a battle. San Francisco is more healthy now and the Seahawks have not won at Candlestick since 2008. Both teams are going to be fired up for this one.

I think it will be close, but I think the Seahawks will prevail by a TD.

We got Crabtree back, but we'll probably be without Iupati and Staley now. I don't like being short-handed on the OL against the Seahawks defense.

I think this will be a defensive struggle similar to the last game at Candlestick between these two.

Re: Week 14: Seattle Seahawks (11-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (8-4)

It's funny. Prior to the season opener, I had circled this game as a marquee game to determine the NFC West crown, as well as a key game for playoff positioning.

But after last night's game, and looking at the remaining schedule, this game seems like barely a blip on the radar. 3-game lead over the Niners, an essential 3-game lead over the Panthers and Saints (2-game lead + tiebreakers), with the Niners & a mediocre Giants team on the road, with St. Louis & Arizona at home? It seems the division title and homefield advantage are foregone conclusions at this point.

But, any given Sunday, etc. etc. Sure, we could still blow these last four games and fall back to at least a 5-seed. I don't see that happening, though. Not with this team.

It's funny how one week can change your whole perspective on the entire season...

What's strange is: Us Niners fans may need to root for the Seahawks to beat Arizona in a few weeks.

I've already conceded the division to the Seahawks. They're too good to collapse down the stretch, which is what it would take for us to win the division. I haven't conceded a potential playoff game to them though, even though it would be in Seattle.
