Ranking Current Gen Versions of 2K

I've only played 2K9-2K14 so I''m only gonna rank those:

1. 2K14
2. 2K11
3. 2K13
4. 2K12
5. 2K9
6. 2K10

14 and 11 are far superior to the rest of the versions, 14 is also much improved from 11 but Jordan Challenge puts 11 in top tier with 14.
13 was most fun in an arcadey kind of way but was less sim than 13 and 11.
Would normally rank 2K12 behind 2K9 in terms of gameplay frustrations but Legends mode keeps it ahead.
2K10 was a mess in gameplay department even though it added myplayer.

How would you guys rank the current gen 2k's youve played?

Great thread topic. In another thread I actually ranked 2K11 behind 2K14. Since snagging 2K14 i've been reluctant to popping in 2K11 to see how it holds up. Why? Because with 2K12 and 2K13, each time I did that I never looked back and kept playing 2K11. Thats how much I love the feel of that game.

Well...tonight after giving 2K11 a whirl again...I just have to say, DAYMN!!! What a classic game. 2K14 (and 2K12/13 for that matter) is a very good game. With several advantages over 2K11 like:

1. Fast Breaks
2. User controlled bounce pass
3. User controlled fancy pass
4. Updated Rosters
5. More animations (this also can be a negative)
6. Dunk speed - (2k11 has the slower dunks)

But after that...I can't think of much more 14 does better than 11. The game speed in 14 seems very fast compared to 11 - yet fast players in 11 stand out a bit more.

IF 11 had a user controlled bounce pass and improved speed differential (Centers shouldn't always be able to get back so fast on D) on fast breaks - then I would be happy with 11 to this day. Its not like the fast breaks are bad - they're mostly secondary breaks. The rebounding, spacing, and defense in 2K11 is the best its ever been.

Regarding #5 above - I love all of the different animations in 2K14. Its crazy how much is crammed into this game. That said, there are times when I feel like I'm fighting some of the animations (especially on d) or fighting to get control. In 2K11 - the balance is just right. I don't feel restricted and I don't feel like the animations get repetitive. Make sense?

This is the order mine would go in as well. Though 2K14 is damn close, 2K11 is still king in my opinion. Now if 2K releases a current-gen patch to cleanup a few of the gameplay issues for 2K14, then I will need to revisit the 2K11 vs 2K14 matchup.

Re: Ranking Current Gen Versions of 2K

1. 2K11

BIG GAP

2. 2K13
3. 2K10
4. 2K12

2K11 is the most polished game of the past five years. Proper online leagues (with sliders and ability to invite and see who's online), Crew (even if it was a lag-fest), online lobbies (where you could even play 21 against 2 other players), situation mode, Jordan challenge (even though I didn't really care for it), private match with custom sliders etc. this game was packed full of modes and features, a lot of which have been stripped away. It also had the signature styles which has been lacking in the past few years. Online was actually competitive despite the cheesy moves that some sometimes pulled off.

I got tired of 2K13 pretty quickly. MyTEAM was a good concept that got tedious once you started facing Jordan and co. in the 4th seed. The horrible introduction of VC just made the mode worse. Online was not competitive at all. Most people just sucked at the game. Online association finally had sliders but 2K's servers sucked meaning you had to delete your cache on the dashboard before every game or restart it. Ended up playing private Team-Up the most on it, but interior passing (or perhaps more accurately, how hard it is to defend inside passes to a player just behind you) was (and is) unrealistic and all the games just turned into "paintbombing".

I enjoyed 2K10 probably more than most because it was my first NBA 2K on CG (360) as opposed to last gen (PS2). Momentum, graphics and commentary were the things I was immediately impressed with. I enjoyed the association with the Kings but there was a serious lack of help defense and the lack of effective plays was ridiculous.

I enjoyed 2K12 for the new branching plays but online was boring because of a lack of balance and contesting jumpshots was an exercise in futility. Online association lacked sliders which was a complete joke (just as it is in 2K14 with no practice play mode).

Re: Ranking Current Gen Versions of 2K

Big gap? I dunno but that is the way I would rate what I have played. I don't get all the hate for 13 on this thread. I thought it was pretty good myself.
