Rangers trade Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder!!!!

We needed a power bat and also made room for profar to play everyday. Detroit is chipping in 30 mil to help pay fielders deal. What do you think about this trade.

Wow. Never thought someone would take Prince's huge contract. One would think that Kinsler could just move to 1st. I think Detroit takes the win long-term but short term is fairly equal.

Kinsler was reportedly refusing to change positions

This is a steal for the Tigers.
Their best prospect is a 3d baseman so they move Cabera to 1st and now have Kinsler to play second they will be stacked!
Cant believe anyone was will to take Fielder and that contract. The Rangers will have to still pay him $130 million over 7 years! His #'s have dipped a ton the last couple of years. He looked totally lost at times last year.

His HR numbers took a dip because of Comerica Park.
But having Miggy in front of him should have helped him hit at least 30+ in both seasons with the Tigers.

This is only erroneous speculation on my part, but I think Fielder's got some personality quirks.
Rumour has it that the Tigers front office was not pleased wit his flippant remarks after getting bounced by the Sox.
He had similar obtuse (Andy Dufresne!) remarks after getting swept by the Giants in 2002.

Putting my amateur psychologist hat on, I think this guy has had a silver spoon in his mouth his entire life and therefore baseball is just a joke to him.
He's also not used to facing scrutiny, so the minute he felt some pressure he started to fold, or withdraw.

In a blue-collar town like Detroit, that won't fly. And I'm sure he would have been boo'd on opening day. Those boo's will double, or triple the first time the Rangers come to town.

His feelings were hurt and therefore had no problem waiving his NTC to go to Texas.

There's no denying that Miggy benefited from having Fielder behind him. His average and power numbers rocketed the past two seasons. So it'll be interesting to see how he does without big #28 batting 4th.
I wish Fielder had worked out. It's hard to find 30/100 guys in this league.
But I will say I won't miss his poor attitude. Baseball is a game and nobody should take life that seriously. But he forgets that there's a lot of people who live and die with their teams - especially in Detroit - so treating his profession, in which he's being paid nearly $25M a year like dropping the trash off a the end of the street is not the way to endear yourself to fans.

Well with Ian Kinsler being my favorite player I'm a bit disappointed, I've never been a fan of Fielder either but hopefully it works out and I think it will since Rangers ballpark is much more hitter friendly than Comerica.

I hope the rumors of Kinsler not being willing to play first are not true because that's pretty selfish. You can't be that way in a team sport, just can't.

That is the talk. They asked him in spring training if he was willing he said no and never wavered on that throughout the season.

It could be anything why Fielder has regressed the last few years, who knows? Milwaukee is just as much a blue-collar town as Detroit, so, I don't feel it's all about that. He's had some issues in his life. In Milwaukee, he very rarely talked to his dad because his dad abandoned him and his mom when he was younger. Also, I heard he went through a divorce during the season and no one knows how that affected him.

The boos will probably appear because usually whenever a player leaves a team, fans normally boo that player when they return.
