Does anyone else not like rivalry manager?

While I love the gameplay of 2k14, I feel that the rivalry manager almost ruins universe mode. I remember them saying in a video that you will not face your rival for 12 weeks straight. 90 percent of the time that is what happens. I had a Caw vs Slater for a 12 week rivalry and every single week I took on Slater. Out of the 12 1v1, 7 were reg singles, 4 were Extreme Rules and 1 Table match. I also don't like the crappy rivalries it makes, 2 out of 3 rivalries on my smackdown show were of 3MB members, Everytime one ended they were make another one with them. Also if you make a title feud that last 12 weeks it is that same person wrestling for the title no matter if they are even in the top 10 or so. Another thing that sucks is that you can't change a rivalry match. I had a rivalry between Show and Sheamus and the WHC wasn't in a feud, so I deleted the singles match between Show and Sheamus and added in the WHC to make it a 3 way. The Rivalry manager then does not take in to account the 3 way but says that Big Show won on the preshow. Rivalry manager just makes universe mode a bit too predictable to me.

I agree. Its great for organization but it has no surprise factor like WWE 12 did.

I agree with your points but this point actually isn't true.

In my fledging Universe, Jack Swagger is feuding with Hogan who holds the heavyweight strap. Swagger actually pins The Hulkster cleanly the week before that month's PPV. However, at the PPV, Hogan actually faced and lost to Bret Hart for the title.

What disappointed me was that Swagger didn't figure at all in the match. It was even an Extreme Rules match.

I do think they could stand to add some nuance to the rivalries, particularly for long feuds.

Yes, I was always surprised when nothing happened.

But to the OP - I hear you, but I prefer the updated version b/c it does what I want it to do.

I'm not going in and watching the Cpu play itself if that is what you mean. I am simming every week but I'm simming one match at a time and 90 percent of the time it's all the same people in rivalries facing each other everytime. The other 10 percent is when the the two people feuding teamed up to take on a "common emeny" Also to the guy that says his champion wrestled someone else are you sure the Hogan/Swagger rivalry didn't get deleted? It has been happening. Because the game books Cena vs Ziggler for its first title feud and they wrestled for the title for 3 straight PPVs. Cena beat him all 3 times on PPV and by the 3rd title match Ziggler was ranked 8th and still getting the title match. I just think rivalry manager makes universe mode way too predictable. I just wish they would add promos and backstage beatdowns and stuff like that, other than the same old "storylines" they had in WWE 12.

when 2k did the live stream to reveal the WWE Universe a few weeks ago they stated that although when/if u sim the matches in a rivalry, it may look like they face each other every week but thats not the case.

they said if u watch the matches stuff would happen where they dont really end up fighting each other every week.

Re: Does anyone else not like rivalry manager?

I play every single rivalry match, randomly selecting who to play with so I am not far along. But you do know u can choose the rivalries right?

If u don't like what the cpu created, they are creating them right? Then delete it and choose the opponent who you feel is the #1 contender.

Right now I have rivalries between Yokozuna/D Bryan for WWE title, Edge/Macho Man for the IC title, Diesel/Ric Flair (retro) for WHC title, and another for US title I can't remember. Also have primetime players in one for tag titles.

Also have NXT show with rivalries for NXT title and their tag title. All divas are "inactive". I created all of these...

Once they play out I will decide what I wanna do next. Maybe Hogan to challenge Yoko for the title, assuming he beats Bryan. Bryan can maybe team with Kane again and challenge the shield?

The system is great because it will do wgat u want. I like the creative control in 2k13. I didn't feel I had that control last year. And always had to manually create title matches each ppv to make it realistic. But with no backstory like this game creates it felt like a meaningless title match
