Goalies Are Horrid In This Game

I am the type of player that like to play all positions, I can be very competitve in all spots. This year however, playing goalie has been etrocious, I went out and even bought Hybrid and Butterfly boost packs to get me started. I feel like a computer being exploited on in the upper corners or the goal. Im not a goal line sitter, I play the angles and Im constantly sniped, crazy bounces that shouldnt be going in. I help with several 6v6 sim leagues and there has been a huge downturn in players signing up for goalie, even D is a tad thin then normal.

Goalies are by far my biggest issue with the game thus far. So many fluke goals its not even funny.

Can't disagree there. I'm a position lock player. I finally created some good sliders that give me the gameplay based on the skill of the team and players. However, the goalies go to sleep. I can be outshot, and completely dominated by Boston, yet still beat them 5-1 because the goalies play as if they are rookies. Heck, I was outshot 39-14 at one point in the game, and was winning 4-1. It's frustrating because I'm so close to having awesome gameplay.

Re: Goalies Are Horrid In This Game

A simulation style hockey game is only as good as the type of goals it allows.

Unfortunately, with NHL 14, you will see maybe 1 or 2 legitimate "hockey goals" out of every 10 goals that are actually scored.

When I say "legitimate hockey goal," I mean screens, deflections, realistic rebounds and open shots from prime scoring areas.

Most NHL 14 goals are of the "how on Earth did that go in" or "what the heck was the goalie doing" variety.

The other part, is that the AI Goalie is just terrible. A Martin Brodeur or J Quick play like they are a 50 OVR. This game is so unbalanced it's like EA said, "Oh well, we're done. They buy it anyway."

Wait didn't Rammer say he had a developer or programmer work on the goalies for a whole year. Guess that was another lie from EA.

Re: Goalies Are Horrid In This Game

This is a thing that really p***** me off: I play quite a lot of BeAGM and so far none of my starting goaltenders have had a save percentage of more than .85 (in more than four seasons). In two different dynasties with BUF and FLA I had Miller and Hiller as starters, so I would assume that they should be able to reach something like .90-.91.Anyway, I don't see the point paying them salaries of 5-8 million if they post the same statistics as my 82OVR backup who costs me roughly 2 million. Apart from that, they really annoy me to the brink of madness when letting in a bunch of easy goals. For example, I played the Penguins yesterday and outshot them 35-17. Final score was 5-4. Playing my backup definitely is better for my nerves, as I know what to expect ...

Re: Goalies Are Horrid In This Game

yeah goalies suck.

i'm on toronto in live the life. this was before the roster update so the leafs don't have bernier, so they signed bryzgalov. well let me tell you, bryzgalov might be the worst goalie in this game. gives up backhands from the sides, halfway across the ice, shots that don't even make it in the air, every one timer in existence. just lost 8-1 to florida. he has a 3.33 GAA and a 89.26 SV%. there's no amount of points i can get to make up for a terrible goaltender. it's just extremely frustrating.

admittedly i might get a lot of cheese goals, but not nearly in the capacity that bryz gives up.

goal variety has been terrible in all games since 07.

the ONLY way to get decent variety, is on auto shot aim. end of story/.
