Contested shots go in too often while wide open ones do not go in enough

I feel like an A+ shot has about a 60 pct of going in, while a C+ or B- shot goes in like 50 pct of the time. It is getting annoying to run plays to get guys wide open and getting A to A+ shot selection only to miss, miss, miss, yet my opponent can dribble down court...pass to the wing and jack up a 3 with a hand in his face and make it.

I've put my on ball def to 100, off ball def to 100, help def to 0, play everyone tight, and deny off ball yet they can still jack up shots and stay in the game. I have tried manually guarding them, letting the cpu do it, closing out hard then letting the cpu take over, etc. It doesn't matter.

I don't like putting any of my settings to 100, but I feel like I have to online. I like playing good defense with good helpside defense, but you can't do so online as everyone just lives and dies by the 3. The problem is they are not being punished for running no offense, shooting with no momentum, letting their rebounders get in position, etc. It is just frustrating...

Any tips??

I feel like one of my problems is rebounding too. I have fastbreak on 0 and soon as the shot is up I switch to my C/PF and hold LT to box out. Then it seems like their guy morphs through mine or spins around, times the jump perfect, then kicks it back out for another open 3. So rebounding a problem too I guess.

BTW I've used mainly the Pacers and Grizzlies online. I would think those are good teams to use for defense, but I am seeing too many contested shots go in.

Hey man dont worry its not only you, this game continually punishes people that play the RIGHT way. While giving the morons who run around and slash to the paint and one's and offensive rebounds. The sad part is winning involves giving James Harden the ball 40 times equals more success then spreading the ball around on a team like the trail blazers

True story being told here, it's crazy, I just finished a game against my peoples and he made like 90% of all contact layups. Best advice is to stick to it, hell sometimes I like to take out my frustration by running PG (Pacers user as well) through some picks and dunking on people.

Also, the game jack up defense keep them from get punished with fastbreaks after jack up a missed 3. So they jack up stupid 3s and almost have perfect defense on the other end.

I have played enough games that I can say that the probability to be on on is probably higher than normal. I wouldn't be surprised if everything has been bumped up by 10% for online for either lag, casual friendly. The other part I think is missing is offline I am more than likely to see a longer drought of guys not making shots by using the bench more. Fatigue is impacted but not nearly what it should be.

This is what I've been trying to say. The game was not like this when it first came out and that's a fact. You could barely make a layup with contact or heavy defense on you when the game first came out. It was ultra realistic. I'm talking the first game I played I could do nothing but smile.

It's been downhill ever since.

There's no consistency to this, I've had both scenarios happen, and there's really nothing suspect there.

Maybe I just havent played enough games cause Im not seeing this. I see a lot of wide open shots go down, and contested missed. Matter fact I cringe every time the team Im playing I end up leaving a guy open cause it seems they dont miss and will make me pay I think I have played around 10 full games and thats full games minutes per qtr wise too, cause I cant play any less than what it is IRL. So far in the limited time I have played I have been extremely happy with gameplay. Im sure once I get into playing it more I will find some flaws, but as of now I havent had much to be upset about for once thankfully. Its not on MLBTS level but its awful close this year, and maybe with the right patch to fix some Association stuff it could be as good or maybe even better.
