How have you rebuilt a team?

Right now I'm working on the Browns, Weeden and Hoyer both got hurt. I'm trying to turn Rainey into a stud.
Thinking about trading Jabaal Sheard.
Gordon and Cameron are beasts.

Turning Rainey into a stud may take awhile but you can definitely get the ratings up quickly if he performs well. It's just his carrying is so low. Don't know what sort of value you will get on Sheard trade possibly a second rounder for him. Mingo is definitely the way to go, if you increase the play rec., tackling and hit power he will be amazing. Good to see you keeping Gordon and Cameron, Gordon becomes a beast, he is unstoppable, it's like having a young Fitz.

I've turned the Lions into a force.

Stafford, of course, is easy to turn into a top 5 QB. And Calvin Johnson is unstoppable. I almost feel like I'm cheating when I throw to him.

Bush is good but he gets hurt a lot, so I drafted a workhorse-type of RB to split the load with him.

At WR Broyles turns into an awesome possession receiver, and I drafted a WR early the first year to be a deep threat.

My main work has been building the O-Line. After year one I drafted new starters at RT and C, and the next I drafted a new RG. The whole line is now young and talented. Just locked up Reiff to a long-term deal.

Defense is mostly the same - the players that the Lions have are very highly rated in their scheme. It's a bit unrealistic to have so many players stick around, but I'm slowly working in younger talent. I know I'm headed for a disaster when everyone gets old at the same time, but I can't help it.

Nick Fairley was lost in FA - I could've resigned him but it would've killed my salary cap, and I like to have a lot to work with. I don't need much next to Suh and Ansah anyway.

First year I made the playoffs but lost in round one. Year two Stafford got hurt and I missed them entirely. In year three I'm currently 10-2 and hoping to make some noise.

It's not a true rebuild, I know. The Lions are a much, much better Madden team than they have been in real life, especially on defense.

If I'm going for full-on rebuild...

1. I start with cutting all the dead weight. Anybody I know I'm not going to keep around.

2. I'll identify any young players that I want to build my new core around.

2. Any players that I don't want to build around, or don't fit the scheme, or are too old I'll put on the trade block to see if anyone shows interest. This will give me either some new young players or a few draft picks.

3. I'll sift through free agents. Usually I'll try to find younger guys that I can progress, I don't typically go for big FA signings.

4. I'll work with what I have for the season and evaluate everything. Once the season concludes I repeat.. I cut or trade players, look at free agency, and build through the draft.


Right now I'm rebuilding the Jets. In all of my years of Madden playing (since sega 94), I've never played as the Jets. At this point, I have literally no 'stars' on my team, mostly just no-names with intangibles.

I'm in year 2 of a rebuild with the Raiders. I'm using a "build thru the draft" philosophy for more of a challenge. In this concept I'll only sign FA's who do not desire a signing bonus and focus most of my effort on drafting quality players and signing undrafted FA's. I currently have 18 rookies on my roster. For even more of a challenge I do not complete any practice and I let McFadden walk since he didn't accept the offer during the season.

My first season I went 8-8 and I've started my second season at 3-3 after Pryor went down with an injury.

Right now I am in the middle of a rebuild of the Carolina Panthers. I traded away all of my big contracts including Cam Newton, Steve Smith, D Williams, and Jordan Gross. I was actually able to bring in Mario Williams in the deal for Cam Newton and Juilo Jones(in the offseason) in the deal for Jordan Gross.

My First season was not good, although with Mario Williams and Luke Kuechly (DMVP) my D was pretty good. I drafted a QB, RB, and a new LT in the draft and my O is much better. Right now I am 7-0 on the season, although I barely beat the Saints (threw a TD to win to Julio Jones with 1 second left)

I took the Browns to four Super Bowl victories in Madden 13 by the end of the 2019 season.

The best decisions I made started with getting rid of Weeden and taking a QB in the 2nd Rd of the 2014 Draft.

I made sure to invest in my O-Line and my defense. Trying to make any individual player into a stud will often result in the detriment of the team as a whole. I found out the hard way with Trent Richardson... tried and tried to force the run but his lack of break-away speed just wouldn't do it.

After winning his fourth Super Bowl in the 2019 season I decided to put big money into my QB, Mark Mallett. He got a 6 Year, $132 Million deal. This went with also signing Joe Haden, Luke Kuechly and Joe Thomas to long-term deals. They all seemed to perform better after signing those deals in week one... hmmm... LOL.

I also put in all this money because I wanted to have a bigger challenge in coming seasons to keep this team up to par performance-wise.
