Does controller settings-defensive assists set to 100 hurt your defense?

I keep messing with this setting to try and see which one works for me. Manual is awful, so no go on there. I usually use Always or Intense Def either at 0 or 100. I feel like when I have it on Always at 100 they contest the shots they are supposed to, but it feels like the CPU/opponent makes more than usual contested shots. Anyone notice this?

Against a unskilled human these settings are money. But the CPU will exploit every mistake you make and a skilled user will use the over reacting shot contest to their advantage with up and unders shot fakes and double moves.

But this is basketball you will never win 100- 0. The other team will score... Your job is just be there when they shoot the best you can.

Why play a game when the game can play it for you?
That is not my question, thanks.

I asked what the slider does. I know what "Always" does and the reason I use is because the RS doesn't work half the time and I'll be in position to contest.

I usually the intense def modifier anyways.

Defenses assist - how much the AI helps you play defense on ball when your controlling the defender.

The shot contest - always , if your in range they put a hand up.

Intense D - if your controlling the defender with And have the LT/L1 button held they will contest you don't have to jump.

Hope this helps.

On past iterations, the higher the slider the more the player you control is aid by the AI, in terms of: positioning, contesting shots and crowding the ball handler.

I always felt that the higher the slider the less control you have on your player and the more the player will do things on their own, like choosing to defend an opponent passing by rather than the man you are supposed to cover. Since the AI isnt perfect, I found my self struggling to get into good positioning some times, I found to be more susceptible to ankle brakers, commiting shooting fouls and biting on fakes.

For me, I found the best balance by having it no more than 35, oftenly on 25 or bellow. The best way to know what a slider does is by experiencing, play more than a couple of games with different values (100, 0, 50, 25, 75, etc) and go with what suit you best.

I apologize. I've had a rather tiring day, and I was in a bad mood when I wrote that.

I can still see a hardcore sim-head saying that, but yeah, that was rude of me. I'm sorry.
