(Press Row Hangout) Next Gen Madden Impressions

Next-gen discussion begins at 37:07. They start talking about FIFA, but quickly transition into Madden.

Notes:

Played 15-20 minutes. Not a final build.

Player models, helmets, fields are clearly better.

Presentation is almost identical to current-gen in terms of graphic overlays and replays.

Sidelines were not "zombie drones" like previous generations.

The Super Dome was "next level" and same with the crowd.

Commentary is improved and smarter and talks about previous drives as the games progresses.

The blocking looks to have a more dynamic relationship between offensive/defensive line.

There was not any obviously bad blocking.

Compares Madden NFL 25 next-gen to NBA 2k14 and NHL 14 of current-gen in terms of understanding the quality of the game after you continually play. He doesn't think people will be blown away at first glance, but that could be because of the similar presentation elements.

Points out how much better this transition into next-gen will be than Xbox to 360.

So basically that Dolphins and Saints video is what the game will look like. Glad to see EA was working on it for 2 years... No hope for Madden next gen.

Same menus, same graphic overlays, same score bugs, same play-art and play-selection screens, same post-play animations; why wasn't this said during the "presentation" trailer?

You forgot to add the fact that he is saying it's basically the same game, but looks better. Not by much though. It doesn't look significantly better like other next gen titles. To me I got Madden 25 on next gen is a slight improvement out of that video.

Seriously? At this point you're nit-picking. The overlays and scorebug didn't really need updating. Why would they promote something that hasn't changed?

Well when the gameplay and graphics are basically the same you would want to maybe change that stuff so people actually feel like they are playing a different game.

No, that's not nit-picking because that's actually presentation. That's why I want to know why they came out with a "presentation" trailer and said nothing about the actual presentation, which apparently stayed exactly the same.
