Super's Selections

Welcome to Super’s Selections! This year there will be no video series (apologies to those that enjoyed the video). The format for the weekly picks will be that I’ll highlight a few of the games and break it down a little bit; the rest of the games I’ll just pick a winner. Let’s start with Week 1.

Week 1:

Falcons vs Saints
These two division rivals are squaring off early this year and I doubt that anyone in the league is giving Adelfish and the Saints a chance to win this one. Truth is one of the best owners in the league and is coming off of a championship run from SFL 13. Atlanta possesses a top 10 QB in Matt Ryan and probably the best receiving corps in the league led by Julio Jones and Roddy White. However, the running game will have to be accounted for with Atlanta acquiring Stephen Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers getting some love from Donny Moore. Finally, the Falcons defense known as “D-Block” will be swarming all game long and hitting people. It doesn’t sound like I’m giving the Saints any chance to win, but Adelfish is a better player the league gives him credit for. The Saints passing attack will be tough to stop with Drew Brees leading the way and I’m expecting this game to be a shootout. At the end of the day, against conventional wisdom, I’ll take the Saints in an upset special over the Falcons *cue evil laughter*.

Saints 45
Falcons 42

Bucs vs Jets
Both of these owners are pretty good. D11 almost won a SB with the Bills and Aaron Corp (who?) while trutest made a lot of noise with the Vikings in SFL 13. The Jets will stay close for a while, but the Bucs have more talent on their team than the Jets do, so the edge goes to Tampa Bay.

Bucs 27
Jets 17

Vikings vs Lions
Marvin already picked this game, but I’ll put my two cents in as well. The Vikings have acquired some good young talent over the past two drafts and with AC as their owner, the Vikings will be near the top of the NFC for the duration of SFL 25. AP is a monster and will be difficult to game plan for. The big question for me is Christian Ponder; if he doesn’t play up to his 1st round draft choice, then the Vikings won’t be making it far in the playoffs this year. Unlike the Vikings, Detroit has a QB that is capable of putting up big numbers and a top 5 player in the league in Calvin Johnson. I predict that the Lions will have a difficult time stopping Adrian Peterson in this game; look for him to have over 150 yards on the ground which will force Detroit to play catch up for most of the game.

Vikings 30
Lions 21

Cardinals vs Rams
This is not a contest of the two best teams in the NFC West, but of the best owners in the NFC West. Once Marvin and Brian have a chance to rebuild their teams, they’ll be 1-2 in the NFC West for a long time. But for now, I trust the Cardinals offense a little more than the Ram’s so I’m taking Marvin in this contest.

Cardinals 26
Rams 17

Giants vs Cowboys
This is going to be the closest contest of the week, with both owners having relatively equal teams. The Giants have a good passing attack with Eli Manning leading the way and he has a 1-2 combination in Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. I’m concerned in how their secondary will perform this season and that could be the position group that keeps the Giants out of the playoffs. Dallas has a pretty similar team that would we’ve seen last year, except for three things. 1. Dez Bryant is a beast. 2. Demarcus Ware is a DE #scary #cantpayhospitalbill. 3. Turk has improved over the course of a year. These three reasons are the reasons why I’m picking the Cowboys to win this game and the division.

Giants 14
Cowboys 31

Some of the other games on the docket:
Ravens over Broncos
Bills over Patriots
Titans over Steelers
Chiefs over Jaguars
Bengals over Bears
Dolphins over Browns
Colts over Raiders
Packers over 49ers (Bold Prediction: Neither team makes the playoffs)
Redskins over Eagles
Texans over Chargers

We’ll see you next for Week 2!

It's not bold to say I won't make playoffs, I'm going to be on autopilot for about 1/3 of the first season.

That's not the reason why it's not a bold prediction...

Lol that's funny. Have fun missing the playoffs every year with a stacked team and one of the best QBs. #TheThingsIdDoWithGodgers
