Turn Back The Clock: Great Teams

Okay.....I've decided upon doing a GREAT TEAMS set for MLB The Show'13.

The criteria for a team making the set is thus:
-Making the post season
OR
-Winning 90+ games in a season

Teams in version 1.0

1973 Baltimore Orioles(to be 1971)
1967 Boston Red Sox
1977 New York Yankees(will update to 1927)
Negro League Team(Tampa Bay)....a mix of two Negro League teams.
1984 Toronto Blue Jays(to be 1985)

1983 Chicago White Sox
1954 Cleveland Indians
1984 Detroit Tigers(to be 1961)
1984 K.C. Royals(to be 1985)
1987 Minnesota Twins

1984 L.A. Angels(to be 1982)
1973 Oakland A's
2001 Seattle Mariners
1977 Texas Rangers
1980 Houston Astros(possibly will be updated to 1986)

1969 Atlanta Braves
2003 Florida Marlins
1969 Washington Senators
1988 New York Mets
1976 Philadelphia Phillies

1984 Chicago Cubs
1973 Cincinnati Reds(to be 1975)
1982 Milwaukee Brewers
1979 Pittsburgh Pirates
1984 St. Louis Cardinals(to be 1967)

2001 Arizona Diamonbacks
1995 Colorado Rockies
1949 L.A. Dodgers(to be 1977
1984 S.D. Padres(to be 1998
1962 S.F. Giants

I think that's a pretty good mix and should be a lot of fun.

Let me know what you guys are thinking!

Thanks.

So far I'm leaning towards these for my team choices.

Baltimore 1971
Boston 1946/1967 or 1975
New York A 1951(I would do 1927...but they need to be season playable and remarkably ...only 26 players played for the 1927 squad!)
Tampa Bay 2005
Toronto 1985

Chicago A 1983/1959
Cleveland 1954
Detroit 1984/1968
Kansas City 1985
Minnesota 1987/1970

California A 1982/1979
Oakland 1973
Seattle 2001
Texas 1977
Houston 1986/1980

Atlanta 1982/1969
Miami 2003/1997
Washington 1981
New York N 1988
Philadelphia 1976/1980

Chicago N 1984
Cincinnati 1975
Milwaukee 1982
Pittsburgh 1979/1970
St. Louis 1967

Arizona 2001
Colorado 1994
L.A. N. 1949/1955
San Diego 1984
San Francisco 1971
(bolded teams are first preference right now)

I think that's a pretty good mix and should be a lot of fun.

Let me know what you guys are thinking!

Thanks.

Knight, knowing your work, these will be awesome. I like all the teams here, and by looking at it there are some different ones, which is always nice. I know a lot of these are championship teams, but was wondering if the 61 Tigers ever crossed your mine? I know they did not win that year, but I just think it fascinating they one 109 games while the Yankees of course won 114 or something like that. Anyways, will definately look forward to this.

The '86 Astros are an interesting team. Met fans still have nightmares about Mike Scott. They had another pretty decent pitcher too. If they only had a deeper bullpen.

Hmmm.....'61 is different.
I'll put that in consideration instead of '68.
(this may come down to how wiped out I am at the end of the cycle, since '84 is already completed and a pretty good squad)

That's a great idea. Seen the 68 Tigers but not the 61. That would be a treat.

I know one certain 21 y.o. Met fan who was seriously thinking of trying a 1000 yard shot from the Whitestone Expressway if there was a Game 7!

There would have went my N.Y.P.D. and F.D.N.Y. careers...but I would have taken one for the team!

Re: Turn Back The Clock: Great Teams

This is great news! I was hoping you would do another of these as I never finished my season on the last one you did. I also like the older flavor it has. I am SO looking forward to this!
