pur1ty's *AA* Challenge Sliders '14

So for starters, I'm pretty new here. Hi. But I've been playing NCAA since '05 and tweaking sliders since '11 I believe. I've used several sets that have been posted here, just never got around to making my own account til recently.

I must give a big shoutout to Matt10, I started using his sliders originally and so they were used as the baseline for my set. Personally I didn't like having the threshold so high, so I set it lower and that threw a lot of things out of balance, which required quite a bit of tweaking, the biggest of which may be that I'm now using AA defense instead of Varsity. So if you liked Matt10's sliders but would like to try a lower threshold, and possibly a better challenge (opinion), you may like these.

Another big shoutout to ZaPPPa, whose testing on the effects of sliders helped me find my own sweet spots.

The aim here is to present an authentic Saturday football experience, and to give the player a challenge the majority of the time. These sliders test me. They reward me if I play correctly, and punish me for my mistakes. Big plays aren't common, but when they occur (and they will), they can really change the game. It keeps me on the edge of my seat. Please note for someone of a higher/lower skill level, you probably won't have the same experience. But I've enjoyed these sliders so much to this point I decided I'd post and see if anyone else could get some fun out of them. Feel free to post your experiences and/or suggestions!

Now to the juicy stuff.

V. 1.0

Difficulty - AA/AA
Qtr Length - 8 mins (personal pref really)
Game Speed - Normal (did some testing, it most accurately recreates on-field top speed)
Speed Threshold - 25 **ADJUST TO 40 IF YOU SEE TOO MANY BIG PLAYS** (Thanks UWfan206)
HFA - Off
Ice the Kicker - On (this kinda takes the place of the sometimes OP home field advantage, and easy kicking system. Personal pref though.)

::Rules:: (50 unless otherwise specified)
Offsides - 99
False Start - 99
Holding - 99
Facemask - 54
OPI - 99
DPI - 99
Grounding - 75
Roughing the Kicker - 30

::User / CPU AI::
QBA - 5 / 40
PBL - 15 / 50
WRC - 25 / 50
RBA - 30 / 70
RBL - 5 / 50
PCV - 75 / 95
INT - 60 / 60
RDEF - 20 / 90
TAK - 40 / 40

}Personal Preference Below{

FGP - 25 / 40
FGA - 0 / 35
PPW - 10 / 40
PAC - 50 / 100
KOP - 0 / 60

Notes:
CPU interception is pretty damn high. Personally I like it that way, if I make a bad throw...it's going the other way more than likely. But just about every pick I've thrown with these sliders, I've known it was my fault. I never feel cheated, and there are still some throws that I shouldn't make but are still caught or just deflected.

Run game sliders on both sides may need to be adjusted on a per-team basis. Seemed to me running felt too easy to do and too easy to stop with lesser teams, but the current sliders worked perfectly for me for top-10 showdowns. As LSU vs UF for example, I was averaging 3 or so yds/carry til the end of the 3rd, where the pounding started paying off and i was able to rip off a few big runs to bring my average up around 5.5. It felt real and rewarding.

CPU QBA is higher than most people, and you do feel it. At times the opposing QB just seems flawless. But that accuracy makes him bold, and you have tight coverage. A lot of the time he'll just hit short routes, but when he goes deep, it's usually a huge play one way or the other. You'll have your interception chances, and the QB will still throw it away or get sacked if you get ample pressure on him. You'll have to play smart to limit the QB, but I couldn't find any other way to mimic how QB's at this level are basically money within 10 yards, but still willing to throw deep.

I recommend ball-hawking on defense rather than just playing a lineman. I feel like it makes the game more fun, gives you more INT opportunities but also, if you screw up, gives your opponent a shot at the deep ball.

I use the PS3 OS Community Rosters, with a few very minor personal adjustments.

You may want to glance over Fiddy's sliders. Because of the lackadaisical nature of EA, sliders are probably best added or subtracted by values of 25 for efficiency. I'm not that much of a slider guy because of this, but I would bet sliders work more accurately at these values. +/- 25

I don't really think changing the system I have in place is the best at this point. Right now, it ain't broke (for me anyway) so I don't see a reason to fix it.

Okay I played with your sliders and I feel that the threshold is too low. I played a game using Washington State and put up 28 against USC in the first quarter. 1 off a KR for a TD. The first quarter score was 28-21 WSU leading so I turned it off. I felt the threshold caused too many big plays.

I played another game and turned up the threshold to 40 and loved how it play. U should try it..

Re: pur1ty's *AA* Challenge Sliders '14

I'll give it a try.

Edit: Actually played the same WSU/USC matchup as you w/ sliders at 25, and at halftime i was down 14-17. Got a big TD pass off play action and USC had a nice kick return to my 40 which led to points, but there wasn't too much in the way of big plays.

Could just be that we have differing play styles. Adding the thresh adjustment to the OP for anyone who sees too many big plays like you. Thanks for the input!
