Scripted Miracle Finishes

OK I know of at least one other gamer that claims to have experienced this and I wondered if anyone else has. So far I have had two miracle finishes, one of which was complete bs, imo and the other which I now question due to the second.

In the first one, I'm down 7-13 after my opponent scores with a few seconds on the clock left in the 4th. They squib kick the ball, it takes a bounce and my 2nd KR, Santana Moss, is able to grab it then proceed to juke out a couple would be tacklers and even break some tackles to get the game tying score, then I kick the go ahead XP for the win. I have a saved highlight of that play.

The second time was just now, I make a FG with around 7 seconds left on the clock to go up 24-21 in the 4th. I squib kick it very short and the returner is tackled at their 42 with 3 seconds left in the game. Like a knuckle head I don't call a prevent nor back my defenders off deep in the Quarters Cover 2 Man that I call. My opponent throws a Hail Mary, Tory Smith gets behind the deep FS but Flacco slightly underthrows the ball allowing D. Hall to under cut the jumping Smith for the INT attempt. However he drops the INT, the ball rolls down, hits his face mask, which is of course looking away from the endzone but somehow the ball still trickles towards the endzone, hits the helmet of Ray Rice that is also in the wash at this point, the ball still continues trickling towards the end zone, into the hands of Smith that is just landing from his initial jump at this point, not even looking at the ball and he proceeds to run the catch into the end zone, in stride for the last second win. I don't have video of this one because a) the in-game highlights play it too fast to see everything you can in slow-mo and b) that ish pissed me off, lol.

I'm not out to bash the game because up until that point there were really nice plays on both sides of the ball, then suddenly that bs at the end. That's what made it stand out because it was so arbitrary to how the rest of the game played out, it tainted an otherwise enjoyable hard fought game.

Anyway just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if it's truly some Tiburon added Spectacular/Miricale Finish animation or trigger, like the Clutch trait, they need to disable it in a patch or at least give an option for disabling it. Keep your eyes open for something like this in close games.

For the record, I'm not being a sore loser either because the game was meaningless, except for bragging rights, it was an Unranked All Madden game against a family member online.

If you play enough online ranked game you start to become very suspicious. Im pretty sure some games have pretty strong predetermined outcomes or are heavily weighted toward one team winning.

Re: Scripted Miracle Finishes

I remember back in Madden 12 about the AI comeback script. I honestly encourage more of that because I didn't see it enough in 13 and haven't witnessed it at all in Madden 25. I like the excitement it brings. It's probably that I use gameflow that I don't see endings like that because the defense will always call the right play to counteract the CPU offense.

I notice it all the time in practice mode inside CCM. I always choose the 4th qtr tied up on offense. I try to run the clock out, if I kick a field goal then the CPU team always has a monster kick return and above normal offense to run down and either score a TD or kick a FG (annoying..)

If I score a TD, they usually get the ball back and go 3 and out or turn it over.

Strangest thing I've ever noticed is that the CPU has a timeout down 2, in FG range, and just ran the clock out, never brought FG unit on, never used TO, and never even snapped the ball.

That's interesting that you can notice when actually practicing that scenario, would be nice to have some way to turn this off. Especially considering all the rhetoric about not having the game "play itself". The second play in the op was as if in spite of the other bodies in the way the game had decided to have Tory Smith catch that pass, similar to the days when the ball would warp or morph through players but instead of that it just defy all reasonable physics to go around players to get in the receiver's hands. I can't imagine some big regular season, playoff or worst yet Super Bowl game being decided by something like this.

In past Maddens I probably wouldn't even be that surprised or maybe notice because the entire game would likely have odd plays throughout. However, like I stated, there was a fair amount of similar plays throughout the game where the ball was slightly under thrown, with a jumping defender undercutting and they all resulted in either an INT or a drop going to the ground.

Oh well, glad to see I'm not the only one that has noticed this.

Re: Scripted Miracle Finishes

I don't know about scripted miracle finishes but I do know this game is just way too easy on offense, especially in user vs user games. I played a guy last night and I knocked Matt Ryan out of the game in the second quarter and he was out for the game. The back up played just as well as Ryan did. He did not miss a beat and with the game on the line with 30 seconds to go he hit Julio Jones in what I call my triangle coverage between two defenders for the game winning TD. I can see Matt Ryan passing on me like this, but the back up? The back up only missed on one of his passes. Man I missed the days of APF 2k8 where a bad QB is actually a bad f'ing QB.

Once I knocked Ryan out of the game his passing offense should have taken a nose dive, not stay on the same level/get better.
