Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Ok, I am a very experienced NCAA player. I buy the game every year and play the heck out of it. I'll try to give everyone an idea of how I play without going into too much detail.

I go for realistic sim play to result in realistic stats. Over the years I have really struggled to create a gameplay that is truly a good balance between challenge and a realistic feel. NCAA 13 turned into making the game very unrealistic to create a possibility of a loss, but it turned out it still wasn't doing the trick. I feel like my NCAA 14 sliders has gotten me much closer than I have ever been. Oh, and I am an offline dynasty player.

How I play:
Offense - I like to run what feels realistic in a game. Use the whole playbook and do not get accustomed to running certain "money plays". I try to run a balance of run/pass, except I usually end up run heavy if I need to play ball control or because I am simply well ahead and looking to run the clock and finish the game.

Defense - Mainly, I try to limit blitzing. One thing that has always ticked me off about NCAA is too many sacks. I use a lot of my base defense, but like to switch up my defense to different straight up zones, zone blitzes, etc. to keep it interesting. I play as a safety and do my best to play my position instead of running out of position because it is an easy run read or something similar. I also do not switch players to get user picks, and rarely switch my player at all on defense. I would consider my defense a "bend don't break" defense, as I would prefer to allow teams to move the ball against me but limit the big play.

I am using AA sliders as the game feels more realistic on All-American than on Heisman and I prefer the run threshold when set at 0 over heisman.

I think that is way plenty to describe how I play the game. I'm actually going to hold off on posting my sliders and give people the chance to focus on my game results first. If everyone thinks that the sliders need to be posted right away then I'll put them up. Just let me know. I thought it'd be interesting to get feedback on my game results first.

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

I went with Kent State because I didn't want to be a great team, but wanted someone with an exciting player (Dri Archer).

First game was UL Monroe. This was a great game that I ended up winning thanks to a kick return for a TD and a big interception in my own end zone. Too many sacks in game 1 for my taste, but not too unrealistic for just a one game sample.

They actually broke a 76 yard run on the first play of the opening drive. It had me worried until I took the following kick back for a TD. This was one of the most fun games of NCAA I have ever played. It felt like every drive was a fight and the game was close the whole time. I ended up kicking a field goal with 2:05 left that made it a 9 point victory. I fed Dri a lot more than i would normally one guy in a game. If they had stuck with their run game this game may have gone the other way.

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Game #2

Bowling Green vs. Kent State

This game was a much better game than the score shows. It was a struggle up until late in the second quarter when I made a big run. BGSU just scored with 0:36 to go in the second quarter to make cut it to a 13-10 KSU lead. With three timeouts I drove down and scored a TD with fairly conservative play calling in which a WR opened up deep so I took the shot downfield that put me in scoring position. Then I turned around and took the 2nd half kickoff back for a TD and just like that it was a 27-10 lead and the running game opened up as I ran the clock with it most of the second half. I was really hoping for a closer game, but take away the 3 BGSU turnovers, and my halftime surge and the game would have been competitive.

BGSU moved the ball well against me but failed to cap off drives with points to keep up.

I was very happy with the tamed down sack quantity in this game.

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Stats look pretty good and I'm looking for something AA at 0 thresh... Did you post your sliders yet and I just missed them? Will you post them?

Yeah, I'll post my sliders within this week. I was going to do it last night, but ended up not getting to it.

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Yeah I prefer low sliders too. I see some ppl on here posting threshold at 95 and even tried those but it feels generic. In college football there is a bigger gap between faster players than slower players as oppose to the NFL and when the threshold is too high it feels generic and you barely get to see daylight in the open field with a running back without some tackling you from behind...

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Yeah, it is really frustrating to have a fast player that gets run down by much slower players. Unfortunately, I have had two kick returns for TDs already which may have a fair amount to do with the threshold, which I don't like a lot because I do not want to be returning kicks for TDs too consistently.

My next game is against LSU and I'm really hoping that I get stomped as I should get beat decisively. I plan on getting that game played tonight and posting the stats and my sliders afterwards.

Re: Monte's Sim AA Sliders

Looking forward to them, I came on this forum today looking for AA sliders with a very low threshold, and your preferred play style is very close to mine (ok I blitz a little bit more, but still control the safety throughout).
