how do i get better at playing the safety position?

I suck at it. I get torched against the pass, im always out of position, i can stop the run at times, unless my guy decides to just lunge forward and completely miss. It seems that the very few occassions I i do get in position the ball hawk doesnt work and they catch the ball and go in for a TD.

im also horrible against man coverage.

I tried playing LB, but half the time when i go for a blitz i get picked up, and when im not blitzing, im out playing zone/man and im right back at where i have the issues playing safety.

Practice makes perfect.... In all honesty though I have lots of success playing as a defensive end and let the computer doody of the coverage until the ball is in the air.

Take it from someone who's been playing Maddensince 1991 (NCAA since its beginning), play the DL, lol. Its the only reasonable choice. You're just asking for trouble with anything else. I've probably played 10,000 games of video game football since I regularly tried playing anything else as my presnap position.

i always used to play the DL or OLB/DE, but 90% of the plays you get blocked and cant get off. it is fun getting sacks and TFLs though.

the fun thing about playing safety is you are always in the game, never "stuck" against a defender to where you cant do anything
