physics question: does weight finally matter?

hi, for those who have played the demo:

does a 240-lb back run through and over a 175-lb corner?

do heavy WRs do more damage and than the 190-lb guys?

this, to me, is a huge issue. thanks in advance for replies.

I haven't played the demo much, but I will say that you finally don't have to rely on speed to have a running game. Marshawn Lynch was killing it yesterday, just bowling over shields, hayward, burnett, etc... It was overpowered honestly, but power backs definitely are more effective than in previous years. I'm not sure about heavy wr's yet. I'll test this later after work.

Total mixed bag, not really weight, physics related at all, because if it was you wouldn't have guys being pancaked by Aaron Rodgers etc. It's really random, sometimes it looks good, sometimes you shake your head.

In short, if you're asking does the engine take each collision and calculate, angle, weight, power, physics properly, the answer is a resounding NO. Does it ruin the game, no, not at all. It's just not a very fleshed out or accurate weight/collision model.

Exactly my thoughts. It does almost seem like it's completely random...maybe they just assumed if the outcome was random it would be correct 50% of the time, and thats better than nothing?

Weight does not matter, have you seen the videos of Vick and McCoy trucking over defensive tackles. Also any back can be hit sticked even if they are squared up with the defender. So weight does NOT matter its all animation based decided like a game of rock, paper, scissors.

thanks for all the replies.

am i crazy or did EA not say that weight would be a factor this year?

if they did and what you all say is true, we've been hoodwinked yet again.

this might be the year i quit my Madden addiction cold turkey.

It does not matter in NCAA; I can still hit stick the hell out of TEs and FBs with my 185 lb FS or CB.

THe infinity engine is an upgrade, but it is not true real time physics. At its heart it is canned animations that can be freely interrupted by other players.

Re: physics question: does weight finally matter?

As others have said its a mixed bag and pretty random. I have seen CBs who are basically standing still just crush a back who was already running. Some of it looks good, like when your trying to tackle someone and you wrestle for a yard or two before you push him out of bounds.
