Europa Universalis IV

Comes out tomorrow. Figured we could use a thread to share our conquests, tips, tutorials, etc.

Watched this today to get ready for tomorrow. Some good info here.

What nation is everyone starting as? I'm really not sure, but as a new player, it'll be one that's somewhat easier.

Re: Europa Universalis IV

posted it in the CKII thread, but I'll post it here too now.

this link has various previews and devdiaries posted. And a digital Manual.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...ens-amp-manual

Demo is available on steam(works for Windows OS only).

I believe the game should be "live" 9AM EST tomorrow.

If you bought EUIII on steam, you can get 10% off EUIV if you buy it on steam.

if you pre-order before release, you'll get:
The 100 Years War Unit Pack DLC - more unit models for countries involve in the hundred years war.

The Purple Phoenix DLC - more stuff for Byzantium, even though most of the time they die out early on, but there are many fans that like to "Restore the Empire".

copy of Crusader Kings II + CKII to EUIV converter DLC(DLC for CKII). this allows you to export your game at any point to be able to import it to EUIV.

Also for those that played Crusader Kings II, don't expect EUIV to be a "sequel" to that game. the games play differently. To keep it simple, CKII is about individual characters and controlling a dynasty and claim titles and such. you could almost say it's part RPG, part strategy. EUIV is more Nation based, and of course has the entire world available. It would be more "Civilization-like", though I wouldn't personally compare the two.

----------------------------------------------

I'm not sure what nation I will start as. I may convert my CKII Russia to EUIV and learn the game with that(not much chance of dying with my Russia Empire). In EUIII, I've played as Korea, Milan, Byzantium, and a Muscovy>Russia game in default EUIII. I played many more with mods.

Re: Europa Universalis IV

I can't wait. I loved EUIII a lot, especially with some of the mods that were released for the game. Hopefully I can adjust to the new way things are set up in the game. I'm looking to choose a German minor in my first go-round.

yes. the game is distributed by steam, so it's the only place to get it. If you buy it from another site, it'll be a steam key.

with that said, the game isn't depended on steam, so you could play with out it I believe(CKII is like that at least) once you download it. The only exception would be multiplayer as Paradox went with multiplayer through steam instead of their old system which was very terrible(so it's a plus).
