question regarding players

I'm very new to ultimate team so I'm unsure how this works but if a player completely runs out of games does his card disappear or just get put back in ur reserves I ha e a few extensions but not enough for everybody that needs them and low on coins to buy more please help me out

It'll remain in your active roster and will have a red banner across his card letting you know that his contract has expired.
