Preliminary Association Plans

Now that free agency is pretty much settled and we have an idea of what rosters will look like in 2K14, what preliminary plans do you have in place for your Association?

I'm planning on using the Cavs and I hope to pull off two 3-team trades that net me the following lineup (see trade details below):

PG - Kyrie Irving, Jimmer Fredette
SG - Gordon Hayward, Evan Turner
SF - Marvin Williams
PF - Anthony Bennett, Anthony Randolph
C - DeMarcus Cousins, Tyler Zeller, Andris Biedrins

The big reason I wanted this lineup is because it offers a lot of cap flexibility heading into the offseason. Williams and Biedrins have a ton of money coming off their expiring contracts. Cousins, Hayward, and Turner are all restricted FA's and their contracts won't count against my cap until after I'm forced to match offers made by other teams. Before I'm forced to match other team's offers, I plan on trying to lure both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony with my available cap space.

My (hopeful) projected lineup for season two looks like this:

PG - Kyrie Irving, Jimmer Fredette
SG - Gordon Hayward, Evan Turner
SF - Carmelo Anthony, Marvin Williams
PF - LeBron James, Anthony Bennett, Anthony Randolph
C - DeMarcus Cousins, Tyler Zeller

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade 1

Cavs receive: DeMarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette, Gordon Hayward, Marvin Williams, Andris Biedrins

Kings receive: Andrew Bynum, Anderson Varajao, Tristan Thompson

Jazz receive: Dion Waiters, Jason Thompson, John Salmons

Trade 2

Cavs receive: Evan Turner, Anthony Randolph

76ers receive: Jarrett Jack, any necessary draft picks from Cavs

Nuggets receive: Alonzo Gee, any necessary draft picks from Cavs

Re: Preliminary Association Plans

Are you going for realism or just trying to get together a superstar team? I don't think these trades are very realistic.

I wasn't initially seeking input on my Association and I was more interested in seeing what other people were planning for their Associations, but okay, I'll bite. What part of those two trades do you deem unrealistic, and how would you improve on them?

Evan Turner for Jarett Jack? That's not very realistic.
If you want a franchise big man like Cousins, you are going to be giving up a lot of pieces to the Kings, like a couple first-rounders and young talent to replace Cousins.

Perhaps you're right. Tell me if my justifications seem illogical.

1) Jarrett Jack and any necessary draft picks (likely includes a 1st rounder) for Evan Turner. Logic being that the 76ers are rebuilding and Turner's rookie contract is almost up. He's in line for a hefty increase that may not justify his ability. I assume the game will have him signing for around 9-10 million per year for 4/5 years. That's a lot of money to commit to a player whose talent registers as an above-average second option on an average team. The 76ers get a more affordable contract and backup point guard in Jack, financial flexibility moving forward, and a 1st round pick.

2) The exchange of Cousins for Bynum, Varajao, and T. Thompson is a trade I think the Kings would make in a heartbeat (with cap throw-ins Fredette, Salmons, and J. Thompson). The return on superstar players hasn't been that impressive (see Dwight Howard trade) and the Kings would be getting three established front line players. T. Thompson is still growing, and when healthy, Bynum and Varajao are top 7 centers in the NBA (and in the video game world, Bynum's knees aren't much of a concern).

That's my logic. Perhaps it's illogical. If it is, talk me out of it.
