In 1995, the Toronto Raptors were introduced into the NBA as an expansion team as part of the NBA's International Movement beginning with Canada. Not much was expected from the team north of the border; and while they haven't yet won a championship, they have made plenty of noise. In the late 1990's and early 2000's, they had the well known duo of Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter, but as those teams of old fell apart, so did the franchise's reputation. Their latest dissapointment was in 2010, when Chris Bosh, the team's drafted star since 2003, left for the bright lights of Miami to join forces with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Since then, the Raptors have been part of a terrible rebuilding plan. As we speak, they are a middle of the pack team with no great outlook on the future. New management doesn't want to keep it that way and it looks as though the Raptors aren't afraid to lose a few games before winning again.

I made the first (and probably only) trade of the season before the first game began, sending Kyle Lowry and his heart and hustle to the Detroit Pistons for Will Bynum, Jonas Jerebko, and the Pistons' second round pick for this year. The Pistons are starting to look like a fourth or fifth seed in the East with a starting lineup of Kyle Lowry, Rodney Stuckey, Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, and Andre Drummond. The Raptors show they are serious about the future, trading away one of the best players on their team for loose change. It is widely believed they are aiming for Andrew Wiggins in the next draft but management has stated they will not tank and will try to win as many games as possible for the city of Toronto and fans all over.
