Deleted Free Agents in Association Mode

In my associations, I like to "create" draft-and-stash prospects.

For example, I made a 19-year-old shooting guard from Nigeria in one of my draft classes. He'll probably come over to the NBA at 20 or 21.

What I would do is, draft him, edit his salary to 0, release him, and then resign him next season.

However, the game seems to delete several free agents each year, ESPECIALLY rookies. Hell, 43 overall Jarron Collins stays in the game, but a 20 year old 72 overall rookie gets erased.

Does anyone know how this works? I was thinking of waiting until the preseason to 'release' the draft-and-stash prospects, but now I'm not sure if they'll be deleted in favor of a 43 overall fossil.
