My League Needs Help!!! (advice)

Since NCAA 2010 up until NCAA 2013, the same 7 guys I'm friends with and I have run the same NCAA League. We have had a total of 25 seasons over the span of the 4 games.

Now the name of the game is FUN. We never had any complaints until last year we let a new guy in. He...is...amazing! He kills everyone and won the last 6 years titles.

Now, I am the commissioner, and I have 12 titles, but all the guys say that they KNOW (and have) beaten me and we always have close games, but this new guy makes them feel like children and helpless.

We are considering a handicap for when 2014 comes out. Some of the league says he should take a HORRIBLE team (60's) and that I should take something in the 70's, bulk of the league will take 80's and the 2 worst guys will get 90's.

AND THERE ARE ALSO other guys in our league who think it's childish and that since he is the best he is the rightful champion and they wanna PLAY on a fair scale to beat him.

So as commissioner, I do want the league to be fun...and I can understand the few guys who say all fun is removed when you KNOW you can't win. And I also understand the argument from the prideful guys.

What does everyone recommend our league do to solve this disparity in talent?

Ask the best player what he thinks would be the most fair. You run the risk of taking all the fun out of it from him and him quitting the league if you handicap the league too much. But then I guess your problem would be solved, wouldn't it?

I would tell the entire league that after this season everyone will be seeded. But dont tell them why, so then when they get seeded then thats when you tell them that the worst guys will get good teams in ncaa 14 and the best players will get worse teams, a making it more fun for guys who are good because then it gives them a challenge. Or you could invite me into the league lol

Re: My League Needs Help!!! (advice)

In my OD we've seeded the guys based on our performance throughout the previous release and we have prestige caps on these seeds. As an example, this year what we did was this for our 2 conference OD:
6*: 2 worst guys from NCAA '12
5*: next 3 guys
4*: middle 4 guys
3*: best 3 guys

The good players shouldn't have a problem with taking the lower prestige schools if they are actually good. It'll take them a little while to get going, but they should be fine. In '12 I ended up with 3* Arizona State and I still won a couple of national titles and the only others that won as many were the guys who started with Georgia and Wisconsin. This year I took 3* SMU (in the Big XII) and I still have the most titles (3) in our 10+ years.

For me it is hard to answer this question. If the guy plays sim style then you all need to step it up. If he runs cheese plays and abuses the AI programming then you might need to cut your losses.

We have a guy with Miami that has housed everyone he has played. Then we met in the NC. He resorted to cheese but I figured it out and beat him 49-42. There was nothing better than beating the once unbeatable.

Re: My League Needs Help!!! (advice)

If this guy is utter rolfstomping the rest of the league, maybe he can negotiate a point spread with the other players? Give the noob two free TDs to open the game and then start from there, for example. It's not the most realistic thing but if it keeps everyone engaged then it's a good thing IMO
