RTTS: Cannot locate off speed pitches after promotion to Majors.

Has anyone else had this happen? I have a pitcher that throws a 2-seam fastball, a circle change and a curve. His per nines are all high 70s and all pitch attributes are evened up in the low 70s

He was totally carving up the minors before getting promoted and as soon as he was he couldn't locate the circle change or the curveball anymore. I've basically had to start throwing all 2-seamers or he'll just walk the bases loaded or get clobbered. Even if the release point is perfect, you never know where the pitch is going to end up. Might as well not even have the curveball, it's just all over the place.

I'm not sure how to get out of this funk. Should I stop increasing the break on my pitches and go all control and velocity from here on out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are definitely some issues here. What pitching interface are you using? I use the Meter in RTTS and I entered a bug report. My pitcher has 99 control on all pitches and several times per game I will throw a pitch on the low-outside edge of the strikezone and the pitch will be delivered high and inside despite "nailing the meter". It seems to be worse in the majors than in the minors. I can understand not having the ball go precisely where I aim, but it should be in the general area. I figure that I have no idea where a pitch will go about 2% -- 5% of the time (with 99 ratings).

Ugh. I can only get my curveball in the strike zone about one in 10. More often than not, it's hitting the ground. Good luck picking a spot within the strike zone. I just skip the location training sessions when they come up because I'll never hit a spot with the curve. On the good side, since I decided to just stick with the two-seamer, I threw a complete game shutout yesterday throwing 114 straight fastballs. It's a boring way to play, though, and I don't see myself sticking with the game much longer. I don't know why I keep coming back to these sports games year after year. It doesn't matter, Madden, NCAA Football, The Show. They're always broken and I never play them for long before I get sick of them.

Oh, and to answer your question, I use whatever the default interface was. It's a circle that expands and contracts over and over. It's lame. You know, the only pitching interface I've really liked over the past few years was the one that 2K had where you had different stick gestures for each pitch that mimicked the wrist action. You're ability to complete the gesture accurately and in a timely fashion determined release and movement. It actually made complete sense from the aspect of making what you're doing as the player vs. what a pitcher is actually doing. I should rent that game and see what they are doing these days. They've probably completely revamped the interface, though. The only thing these companies can ever seem to do is change the interface from year to year rather than actually make the games work correctly.

That's "Pulse", which I've never used because the circle disappears too quickly for my tastes. With the Meter I know (think?) exactly what to expect in terms of location.

I completely agree with your UI complaint. This is something that Microsoft has perfected over the years. The biggest differences between their Office versions is the menus. They might make half their revenue selling help services to instruct people where to find the functionality they've used for years in the newest version.
