Cyber faces = glitch?

What's the deal with cyber faces?

Endy Chavez and Joe Saunders had real player portraits before I began my franchise... They were on my MLB roster... I start a franchise and all is good -- all players who should have real portraits do... Well, two games into the season, Chavez and Saunders suddenly have cyber faces rather than real photos. Neither one was moved down.

Why?

Also, didn't SCEA claim that portraits would be updated with roster updates? Is that happening?

I thought they claimed that too, but it isn't happening. Justin Grimm, SP for the Rangers still has a cyberface. He was called up from AAA this year and has started like 4 games so far. He's on the MLB in real life right now, and on the game's MLB roster. But, again he still has the cyberface. He made his MLB debut last season, and made around 4 appearances last year.

Wonder why they would claim that as a feature and not deliver?

That's not really like SCEA.

I still can't figure out how or why some of my players reverted back to cyber faces... Add Kelly Shoppach to that list now, too.

Not a huge deal but it's still annoying.

Jed Lowrie also has a cyber face. He had a real portrait with the A's before but it's gone now.

Maybe I am seeing things, but in yesterday's latest roster update I see updated player photos. Endy Chavez and Kelly Shoppach on the M's both now have Mariner portraits? I didn't check Joe Saunders but Chavez and Shoppach looked like they were updated, which is cool. Check out yesterday's roster and see if it worked.

Here is what I noticed so far. The portraits seem to glitch if you move through the menu's fast. Also if you load from live roster, the portraits seem to be fine right away although there seems to be a delay if you load a previously saved roster. When I highlighted Mark Reynolds in the roster menu, it took about minute but his real portrait appear. Vernon Wells took a solid 2 minutes to appear for New York. Then, the rest of the updated mugshots for New York were fine. My guess is that when you pick a specific player, it loads all the updated mugshots for that team. Mugshots will most likely be updated once a month like ratings.

This is a very annoying issue and it's not a glitch, it's bad programming.

If you play franchise mode: once your player portraits have shifted to the cyber kind (ie: no longer real life portraits), it's permanent to your franchise.

It doesn't matter if you started your franchise with default rosters or OSFM this will happen.

If you trade a good deal with other clubs, as most good GM's do, then eventually most of your team will have fake portraits. As soon as you trade for a player and he joins your club, his portrait shifts to the (badly done) cyberface.

just a pitiful oversight, and I dont' think a patch could fix it, and I doubt they would even bother to address it

I think it's bad understanding.

That's how it's supposed to work when a player changes teams.
