Created FA wants more money

I created myself as a 22 yr old 2B and sent him to the FA Pool. I started a Pads chise and went to sign him, but he refuses to sign for some reason. Under the desired contract it says 306k/yr for 3-4 years. I offer that contract, but he says "the years are good, but add more salary." He even declined a 1 yr 10M offer. I wanted to make him a south paw power hitting 2B and his ovr is a crazy 99. Is the ovr the problem? Is there any way to sign this kid in my franchise mode?

When you created him, did you export him? If so you can import him to the team on the roster you want to use (outside of the franchise mode) and then start your franchise using the current rosters.
