Scouting needs to be better

I wish scouting was more in depth than just sending a scout on a trip for a week to scout the whl defenseman, etc. I'd like to focus on specific players or teams instead of an entire league. I just started my be a gm but does your scout eventually give you feedback on players?

If you wanted to scout just specific players or teams, how long do you think it would take to scout everybody? The way scouting is done in the game, you're scouting loads and loads of talent from a specific region in just weeks. Rather than constantly having to go in and out of menus every (in-game) week to change your scouting assignments.

I dont scout individual players in my GM because anyone picked after RD 3 is worthless IMO. However im pretty sure that when scouting a league the players will be listed on the bottom. I know you can look at each players scouting numbers but im not sure if you can scout that particular player. When in the selection mode for your scout hit triangle to go to list and see if you can hilight that player.. I dont use it but i think it works.

Hope this helps

True, but atleast they could give us more feedback on players. Like what type of player he is. Not just show us his potential and how high the league is interested in him.

They should have diamonds in the rough. Follow ncaa footballs recruiting. Some 2 star and 3 star prospects turn into stars. So if you scout those projected late rounders you could find a stud. The wings are known for finding talent in late rounds I'd love find that 7th rounder who's a top line scorer. They could just keep it week to week or multiple weeks, where you send your scout to look at say 5-10 players in a week or 2(it can be more players for a longer scouting trip). This way we don't have to search after every game.

I was just about to write something similar. There are late draft choices that turn into something. I think Henrik Lundqvist was a 7th round pick the year the Rangers drafted Hugh Jessiman in the first round. I just want to be able to go into the draft and not sim after Round 3. Maybe they won't be great players, but maybe they have a redeeming quality that can be built upon and turn them into solid contributors or guys who develop into potential NHL players.

Datsyuk was drafted 161th, Zetterberg 210th, Quick 72nd (nice NJ, I can totally see starting goalie potential in Jeff Frazee!), Miller 138th, Lundqvist 205th, Brett Hull 117th, Hasek 199th, St. Louis overlooked, the list goes on and on.

In one GM I've found a few 3.5 star guys with late picks but their overall is ridiculously low. But there are others where everyone past the 2nd/3rd round are 2 star players. The potentials being so accurate makes drafting boring IMO. It is improved this year on previous years where the potential was unknown until after the draft.
Ideally your Rookie scout would have his thoughts on the player and then once drafted your assistant coach can give you a more accurate description over time.
