Do you edit prospect ratings in Franchise?

Most of the prospects that you draft in Franchise come in with some ridiculously low attributes in some areas.

Do you give prospects a bump in some areas?

The major one I'm looking at is Durability. A lot of prospects are coming in with Durability in the 20's and with the current progression system, 90% of prospects will only gain about 5 points each season. I mean, I have no problem with guys not being durable, but these are wayyyyy too low with little chance of ever getting high enough to be worthwhile. What I've considered doing, is editing anyone (user or computer) who comes in with that low of a durability rating to between a 50-60. Within that range, they still might get injured more than a normal player, but their stamina (for position players, not pitchers) won't drop as dramatically from game to game.

I don't edit any of the batting attributes because I think that would take away from the integrity of it. Same with pitching. I have considered messing with the fielding/arm attributes minorly cause some of those come in crazy low.

So what are your thoughts? Do you edit some things or not others? You would edit everything? Or do you feel its wrong to edit at all?

If you're talking about players that you draft during the season, increasing their durability, then you should decrease attributes in other areas to compensate. I don't edit any players, if you want someone with higher durability then draft someone with higher durability at the sacrifice of them having less hitting and defense ratings.

I try to keep my franchise as realistic as possible so if it calls for a prospect to be edited yes I will do it

I'll edit my draft picks if anything seems so out of whack that it's unrealistic. Pitcher repertoires are one of the main things I edit, sometimes it seems like too many guys lack a breaking ball.

No way. When I was younger I did but I feel now like it's cheating and I like challenges...

I do, but not based on what you have listed. i edit a lot of players, prospects and stars, based on how they preform.

Re: Do you edit prospect ratings in Franchise?

I usually use the OSFM rosters and let a more unbiased team do the editing for me. From there I usually don't edit prospects or anything like that unless something is realistic. For example if I draft somebody with a 98MPH fastball and a low 70's changeup.

That being said I don't often make any changes, and I don't edit anybody on other teams.

Re: Do you edit prospect ratings in Franchise?

The thing that I really feel needs editing like I said is the durability. Only because it comes in so low most of the time. I feel like it makes in more realistic to bump it up to at least a 60 if its in the 20's because I highly doubt anyone in the stock roster has a durability that low.

If it progressed quicker, like a minor leaguer getting used to the rigors of a 140-some game schedule. Then I don't think it would be necessary. But with a max of (on average) a 5 point gain each season on durability, it would take a prospect with a 29 rating in durability, 6 years to possibly get a 59 rating.

I just feel like that's pretty unrealistic.
