Sports City, USA
Hello all...
A while back (a few years, now) I started a Sports City franchise on here, and within a week of starting it (will explain what exactly 'it' is in a moment), I had a massive personal issue that allowed me to have zero time to do anything game-related. Ever since, I've wanted to start up another one, so here we go...
What I did (am doing) is picking a city/town that has some tie to all major sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAAFB, MLS)--either a team in that city, or close enough that most people in that city follow a specific team. I then run the leagues exactly how they would be run in real life--for example, if it is March in my virtual city, then MLB would be in spring training, NHL and NBA would be nearing playoffs, etc. I would move as quickly or slowly as I can, however, it does not follow real time.
The idea is to post recaps as if it was the city reporting the sports in that area. I would also have a few local "stars" that play the B-level sports (NASCAR, Golf, Tennis, Olympics) that would get a highlight here and there (TW, Top Spin, etc). The only game that I do not have is a college basketball game. I had 2k8, but for the life of me, I cannot find it (and it's $50+ online for a used copy. No thanks).
Please keep in mind that because of the scale of this franchise, game-by-game stats will not be an option. It will simply be recaps--maybe a week at a time--and headlines. I will be doing a lot of simming, since playing that amount of games is nearly impossible.
I would like your help in choosing the city. My last one was done with Washington, DC (Wizards, Redskins, Capitals, DC United, Nationals, Terps). While I think that was a great choice, I think I would like to go a different route this time. Cities like NY, Chicago, LA are not really an option, as that doubles the amount of teams for some sports. If the city is short one team, it still may work, as I could do a Be-a-pro or career type thing for that sport. For example, Phoenix has a team for every sport except MLS, so I could just have a young kid from that area that is destined for stardom in pro-soccer.
Hope there's some slight interest in this! I'll also be looking for some creative input on some things. Hopefully I can make this as interactive as possible.
