Is auto scouting the way to go?

I'm having trouble figuring out whats the best strategy for discovering/scouting players. For anyone that has the scouting mastered I would love to hear how you get everything you want done in two months. I would prefer not to do all this on auto but after many tests I can't seem to wrap my finger around it. Is there a tutorial anywhere? I'm surprised I haven't seen more discussion on this topic.

Auto scouting works really well. I mix it up. You can hire the best scouts, have them auto scout and right after the draft you can swap those scouts for scrubs saving you alot of money. Then go through the off season and once you have your team settled hire the best possible scouts again. They are not bound by contract years.
