Death Penalty Legacy?

I was just wondering how you all would go about doing a death penalty Legacy in CH2k8. I figured it would need to be an open legacy with an edited roster where everyone would graduate and the entire team would be walk ons.

However, what else would you all do in that aftermath? Say the team is in terrible shape. What other recruiting restrictions would I need to put in place? I don't know if I can consciously keep myself out of a Tournament (not that it would be relevant anyway).

And how long would you put the restrictions in place?

Re: Death Penalty Legacy?

Use half of the scholarships available each year. Only start recruiting a guy if you are in his top 3, and no 4 stars +. I think that would be a good start, how many years is up to you.

Yeah, you can still recruit, just don't offer up all of your scholorships (how many you use would depend on how strict you want to be).

Release all players not municipal or local, because those would be the players sticking around because they are proud of their home team. I think schedule no in season tournaments, and a 2 year post season ban, if you make either tournament lose first game. While recruiting unless player has over 75 interest out of state, I would stick to just in state recruits.

I like the idea.

Re: Death Penalty Legacy?

3 Possible Ways:

1.) First season cut your best three scholarship players (call em immediate transfers.) Make no scholarship offers for 4 seasons. Then in year 5 you get to fill 2 scholarships, year 6 you get 2 more (for a total of 4), and so on till youre back to a full roster. To make it harder you could take Jeff's postseason ban idea plus maybe a no non-conf home game policy for X seasons. For a mega challenge, you could move your desired program to independents.

2.) Jeff's local idea. No recruiting outside of your home state, except for maybe 1 guy per class or 1 guy non home state on the roster at any one time period.

3.) Turn recruiting on assisted and dont touch it, don't even set a target list. Only offer scholarships to players with 100% interest, whoever they may be.

Re: Death Penalty Legacy?

From doing a little bit of research the worst basketball death penalty was a 2 year ban from play. No scholarships were took in either of the basketball death penalties.

Tulane's program didn't get the NCAA death penalty but the president disbanded the team from 1985-1989 because of point shaving.
