Am I missing something?

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this discussion, but I've been playing MLB The Show for the first time and I am amazed at how in-depth their career mode is compared to Madden. My question is am I missing something? Is there an explanation as to why The Show is so far ahead of Madden in the franchise/career department? The Show has literally every aspect of real-life roster management in the game, while Madden doesn't even have things like RFAs, compensatory picks, or waivers. Is it that the franchise/career mode designers are that much better at San Diego Studios than at EA? Hopefully someone can lay it out for me.

You want someone here to explain why SCEA devs are more creative tha EA devs? Why not just email them all and ask?

I don't think it has anything to do with creativity. What I'm asking is why can't EA replicate the real NFL roster management experience, while SCEA can replicate the real MLB roster management experience, when the MLB one is more complex. I'm sorry you weren't able to understand the question.

I understood the question, but all you're going to get around here is subjective opinions of a handful of gamers. If you truly want to know why one dev team focuses more on one particular aspect of their game, you'll need to talk to the dev teams directly. Past that, what's to wonder about and discuss? What you see is what you get with any game, that's just the way it is.

And I'm ok with the subjective opinions of a handful of gamers. I'll never get a straight answer from a dev team as to why their career mode lacks depth so I'd rather get some opinions from others. Maybe someone on here knows of a limitation EA faces that SCEA doesn't? I don't know, which is why I'm asking.

Nothing to do with limitations. EA's designs their sports games primarily for online botton-mashing youngsters, whereas SCEA builds a quality offline game for intelligent adults who appreciate the intricacies of the sport. SCEA is pretty much unique in that regard.

That's what I believe to be true as well, but then what do the career mode designers at Madden do all day? I would be more inclined to accept this explanation, but Madden has a team dedicated to the career mode. This is the root of what I'm getting at. The Madden career mode team seems to be much less efficient than The Shows designers.

Same deal. EA sports games are online-oriented, designed to be simple fun for the younger gaming crowd. Offline and realism-depth isn't their focus anymore. The Show is an offline-oriented game designed for older gamers. Just look at their manager mode for example, no EA game has anything like that and probably never will.
