Should Madden ditch Pre-scripted draft classes?

IMO Madden should ditch the scripted draft classes and go with Random NCAA style draft classes. I'll list the biggest Pros below.

1) No more draft guides. There is always someone using them in every league.

2) More physical freaks/ random size; scheme players. As it stands right now the tallest CB I've seen is 6'2". Every OLB that is 6'4" 250 is a 3-4 guy. Every DE who is 6'4" 280+ is a 3-4 guy, etc.

3) Classes are stale and too balanced. every class has the perfect mix of talent. there's always a great LT. Always the same number of speedy WR/HB/CBs. Same number of Speed Rush Ends, etc. I never go into a class and say wow this class is loaded is OL or DL or SS. I know that i can always find the exact guys i want based on height/weight & position I never feel like I have to settle for a guy because every class always has at least 1 DE with 90 speed or 1 MLB with 88 speed.

4) Prospects are too Balanced. Last but definitely not least. In my most active CCM we have a story players curse. Tindle Bree=Vince Young, Tank Burbess=Bust, Jason Merian=Bust, Michael White=bust etc. But even before these guys got bad stories they weren't necessarily world beaters. So far the best 4 players to come along were Rockford Odom, Michael Astro and Andrew Chandler, Devan Taratabull. But none of those guys really make you say "Wow" what a complete prospect worthy of trading 3-1s ala RGIII. I have yet to see a true super-freak "can't miss" prospect like Calvin Johnson, AP, Cam Newton, Luck, Etc. Who can step into the league as one of the best players at his position from day 1. I'm not saying that great players should be spawned every year but take Drew Chandler RB, he has 96 speed A acc, B agility...not saying running backs cant have low agility sometimes, but knowing he was pre-scripted to purposely not be the complete package is similar to a premeditated kick in the nutts.

I wouldn't even be opposed to them keeping 10 story players a year and making the rest of the draft random.

Re: Should Madden ditch Pre-scripted draft classes?

Yes they should ditch them.

If Madden 25 has pre-scripted draft classes I will not be buying it. It makes every franchise similar, which I hate. I play Madden 2004 for PC and every franchise is a brand new experience with brand new players. Its exciting, its fresh. When theres a defensive end whos 300lbs and ran a 4.43 40 yard dash, its an unbelievable thing. The way it is now? Oh, thats Player X, he comes in draft class #12345. You should take player Y in the 2nd round, hes a steal! I just hate that.. its stupid and ruins it for me. Yes the storylines do add some realism and excitement to the franchise, the first time, but after that they become stale. On Madden 2004 for PC there are still storylines. Theres no twitter feed or pictures and captions, but you will find some interesting players. I drafted a QB who was 'the next mike vick' according to the scouting reports. Also I drafted an offensive tackle who had a learning disability, and a defensive lineman who registered 12 sacks in a highschool game. You can have exciting and fun storylines and players without scripting the entire thing.

Madden last gen had randomly generated draft classes. Going away from that was a bad idea.

HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate the scripted draft classes SO MUCH

I would have a blast creating fair draft classes that are balanced. The <50 AWR guys are ridiculous. The UDFA process is ridiculous. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to scout every single prospect. Some of the UDFA are 1st round talent!

Yes.

Also bring back the ability to import draft classes. Even if it's a screwed up and wonky like before, that's better than nothing.

... or they could take the extra step and give us the ability to create our own draft classes ala NBA 2k. That's probably too much to ask though.

So all your really asking for is random names for players so no draft class is alike?

From my fingers to your eyes...

Re: Should Madden ditch Pre-scripted draft classes?

Yes, I really really really hate scripted classes. Every year in our OF/CC someone was accused of looking at a draft guide/cheatsheet because of the type of draft they had. With all these guides/cheatsheets out there, there is no chance of a user just having a real good draft class in online CC. They always are accused of cheating. Also I really miss not having any idea of what's coming in the next class. Like the OP said, you always have a pretty good idea about what you're gonna get in the next draft class. I would really love the idea of knowing that the draft class that we have in our CC this season is a draft class that was all of our own and truly random. As commish, it would be nice to know that there is no way that anyone is cheating in this draft because no one else has had this class.

Yes I would really really love random draft classes again, but with one caveat.......... there is some sort of limit to the randomness when it comes to ratings. Last gen it was frustrating as hell to see a RB with 99 spd and 68 acc. How the hell does that happen? lol. As long as there is a limit to the range of randomness as far as ratings are concerned, I'm all for it. I couldn't care less about a made up story that EA wants to give a player. An actual random class would be more fun than any story that EA could come up with.

IMO yes. But here, the madden draft class topic has 500,000+ views ... so i guess a lot of people use it (i know my friends wouldn't have as much fun with their franchise without it)

At least make it less obvious.
