2013 NBA Draft Discussion

It's never too early to start talking about the draft.

I'd like to start out by bringing this guy up; Giannis Adetokunbo. Nigerian prospect, plays in Greece, just turned 18, 6'9" SF with 7'3" wingspan and possibly the largest hands I've ever seen. He looks like he could be the next borderline star player to come over from Europe.

He just had a nice profile done on draftexpress. Check it out if you haven't.

I'm personally enamored with Marcus Smart out of Oklahoma State. Not sure how well hell be able to get that wide frame around quick enough, but if he does hell be a legit star. If he doesn't help still end up a borderline all-star.

No one else really stands out for me.

As a UNLV fan I can say Bennett is not what he's hyped to be in my opinion. A defensive liability who benefits from being a man amongst boys. He has some skills to go along with that athleticism, the length to make up for that lack of height, but I just don't see him as a top 5 pick. That could very admittedly be from me not watching enough college basketball and maybe expecting too much out of a college player.

I'm a fan of Smart as well. I think he's the best prospect in this draft.

Bennett probably wouldn't be a top 5 pick in a normal year, but this class is weaker than most at the top.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion

Noel is still the best talent in the draft (imo). It all depends on how he returns from the ACL injury. Teams would be stupid to draft Goodwin or Poythress in the lottery imo, both have a ton of talent and potential, but Goodwin is a me player ballhog that makes tons of stupid shots/decision (actually sounds like a great fit for the Kings) and Poythress is way too inconsistent. He'll have one great game then not show up for 2.
Willy Cauley Stein has shown since Noel's been out he's a very good player in his own right and it wouldn't surprise me come draft time he's a top 10 guy.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion

Michael Carter-Williams has definitely developed into one of those guys that everyone loves or hates as a prospect. I personally love him as a prospect. I think he's going to end up being the best player Syracuse has sent to the league since Carmelo (not that that's saying all that much). I think he's going to end up being a very good NBA player. His stats outside of his shooting are already pretty good, but they really don't do his court vision justice. He just sees things in a way that I haven't seen in a long time, especially for someone that's a first time starter.

Edit: This isn't his best play or anything, but these are the kinds of plays that I think make MCW a special player.

I'd be shocked if Alex Len doesn't enter the Draft this year.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion

I think this years draft will produce some surprise players, considering everyone is calling this a weak draft. I remember in 2010 people called it a weak draft year. In just 3 seasons we already see a bunch of good players.

John Wall
Evan Turner
Derrick Favors
DeMarcus Cousins
Greg Monroe
Gordon Hayward
Paul George
Ed Davis
Larry Sanders
Kevin Seraphin
Eric Bledsoe
Avery Bradley
Jordan Crawford
Greivis Vasquez
Lance Stephenson

Better draft than people projected. One All-Star, and about 3 or 4 potential all stars. I think this draft could be like 2010. No franchise guys, but a bunch of starter caliber players.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft Discussion

Do you guys think Shane Larkin is capable of being a NBA player or do you think he has too many holes in his game? Their plenty of PG's his height that were/are successful in the NBA.
