1-3-1 Zone/Trap/Double Team

This year a lot of people seem to be running forms of these with ease and really making offense a lot more difficult for me. Either I end up just jacking up a lot of threes or turning the ball over a lot. In the past, these defenses were not as effective against me. What are some ways everyone has been beating these cheese defenses this year?

For 1-3-1, even though I don't play online that much, for those times I do, I run Baseline DBL in the corners a lot. Should get them open, and if they aren't open will be someone else open.

For traps and doubles, I just use a team with a good ball handler, and when you get stuck in a double, dribble away from the double team and you have an open lane.

I think more people are running the 1-3-1 because of the Shookya videos that have a ton of views on youtube.

I play with OKC and I use dribble penetration w/ Russ and KD when the floor is spread out. If you get by a defender you are gold. You either draw another defender leaving someone open or you have an open lane for a dunk. If I can't get by a defender, then I'll use Durant oe Russ with a dribble move to get an open shot. They typically dont double team. Pick and roll's work well too. You have to be patient and take what the defense gives you. Look for open players on the perimeter and open lanes for a layup. If you use PnR's and work the ball around, someone will get open.

my friend played him last week and put up 80 on him in a game he used the Bucks to his Heat, 1-3-1 is very beatable if you run a play to break it down to get them to rotate in a certain way to free up open shooters.

For 1-3-1 just pass to the corner for an easy 3. I've been running 1-3-1 with defensive pressure at 100 and deny ball/play tight on good shooters, people have no idea what to do.

I would say 4 out of 5 players act that way.

Running Horns will put your shooters in the corners - or at least your 2 and 3. You can run it if you want but seriously a simple dive on the outside of your big will draw the corner defender which allows you to kick it out for an easy shot for the corner guy. The user will have to user control him to close out so you can step up for an easy shot as well.

I went 2-0 vs. two 1-3-1 guys today - Vince Carter went 6/7 from 3 and had 30 points that game. Paul George had 32 and I ran the same sets - because once they started sitting on the corner you can actually run the Horn set and really drive them crazy.
