IndyCar in Grid 2

I'm sure a lot of you will be excited to hear this, but the IZOD IndyCar Series announced today that Best Buy will be carrying an exclusive Preorder Bonus of an IndyCar DLC pack with GRID 2.

The presser was pretty short and acted like it was a Special Edition, but according to Best Buy it's all versions of GRID 2.

The DLC pack includes the Dallara IndyCar, IndyCar Pace Car, 2 Indianapolis Motor Speedway Routes, and a special online event (I'm speculating that it's an Indy 500 event).

So what do all of you IndyCar fans out there think? Excited, bummed, hoping it will lead to a full IndyCar game for the next generation?

Interesting. I'd like to see a new IndyCar game, but I just dont think there's enough interest, or demand for it.

It's interesting, but IndyCar is a dying sport that is really struggling for something to keep it above water. I'll stick to the iRacing for now.

For the PC, Simraceway announced back in April 2012 they were developing an IZOD Indycar game with full tracks, teams, season(s), etc. with help from Dario F. Not heard much since then.

Simraceway is mostly known for it's online multiplayer, but supposedly has a single-player mode as well. I'd be interested in seeing if the single player mode would include this IndyCar addition.

Re: IndyCar in Grid 2

Yeah, Flamehead, I got to try the IndyCar on Carb Day. It's not changed at all since then in the game, and they only have the oval package available on SimRaceway.

I went as far as emailing their support staff and was told that it was an ongoing process that the team was still focused on completing.

I think they came into some issues though, IMS had told many of us in the past that Codemasters still owned the license. I know that is a reason why iRacing, and possibly SimRaceway, has yet to upgrade their IndyCar chassis (iRacing stated they wanted to wait until the DW12 was finalized, yet it has been for awhile).

But I think you guys are right, IndyCar is dying...and it's their own fault. There's a rather large fanbase out there dying for a good product.
