Looks Like the USFL Will Actually Come Back to Life as a Spring League

There was a thread posted on the USFL a while ago, when very little information was given, and IIRC, the general consensus seemed to be it'd be cool but I doubt it'll happen.

The league looks to actually suddenly be very alive, with a pretty sick new logo and have 8 locations already picked, as well as 5 stadiums to be built just for the league (http://www.facebook.com/notes/usfl/u...41804299265804)

If this comes anywhere near me (It may in the future, I'm about an hour away from Scranton/Reading/Hershey and live in an 800k+ metro area) I'd love to check it out. Football games minus the freezing weather.

I think a USFL team would do better in Allentown then in WB/Scranton.

Their arena team did awful and since the Penguins came in to town that's pretty much taken all of the local attention, being closer to Philly in Allentown would probably make more sense. They wouldn't even have to build, they could play at Hershey Stadium.

I just have no hope for any leagues that aren't already established after the UFL failed... crazy to me that this league is BUILDING stadiums.

Would love to see it succeed.

Eh, I'm not so sure they'd do well in Allentown with the IronPigs there and the Phantoms coming in 2014...plus they'd probably have to play in a high school stadium, most likely the one that Bethlehem Liberty/Freedom/Catholic play in.

LV has a pretty big interest in sports (Iron Pigs have led the minors in attendance for 3-4 years) but unless they build a stadium, there's about 3 options.

BASD Stadium (My HS) seats about 15,000
Allentown Stadium )Holds about 18k with just one set of bleachers. Awesome place, but it's dilapidated and in an awful area)
Goodman Stadium (LEhigh U's stadium)

Lehigh's stadium is pretty nice but could they really play a professional league there? Not sure how that works. I know the Eagles go there during training camp (or at least used to) but that's a bit different.

I don't know that any of these teams can do all THAT well so relatively speaking, the love for football int he Lehigh Valley should be able to support a team.

Where were the teams when it was active?

I would like a team in Oregon... But I don't know too much about this.
