Missing Details in CCM

I'm a pretty big fan of CCM and I think for the most part it is a huge step in the right direction but I think it's missing some key details that would add to the experience. These are just small things (many of which were in past Maddens) that would increase the "story" aspect of CCM.

- As far as I can tell there is no ability to see past Super Bowls, including box scores and MVPs of the game. For all I know, the Cleveland Browns could have won three straight in my franchise with Brandon Weeden as MVP and I'd never know it unless I kept track on a pen and paper.

- When bidding on a free agent you can't access the player card of the individual you're bidding on or would like to. How am I supposed to know if I want to pay a guy a mega-contract when I can't even see how long he's been in the league or if he's won any awards?

- On the topic of player awards, if I go to a guy's card during the season and see that's he's been MVP or OROY or something in a past season it doesn't specify which year it was.

- Drafted player models not matching their pictures. A great example of this is QB Max Kodiak (I think that's his name; he's compared to Jamarcus Russell), who has a picture of a black guy but whose player model is a white guy. I've seen a few of these as well as QBs/WRs/DBs who have pictures that should go with O-Lineman (as in they're way too fat to be playing that position) A smaller example but one that still annoys me is drafting a player with a picture of a bald player only to find out the model has dreads. I guess being given to edit the full player model to match the picture would fix this. Perhaps even go back to the digital player pictures based off of the player model.

- Player comparisons and detailed scouting reports that used to be in past Maddens would add another great element to improve depth of CCM.

- Once players are drafted, their story lines are over and they become static. It'd be cool to have stories continue for all players. It doesn't have to be any thing too detailed but could be as easy as a player holding out or requesting a trade. Perhaps even player morale could be included and tied into ratings.

- When changing a players number, go back to skipping numbers already in use.

- Scheduling rotation as previously posted:

I think that's all I have for now. As I said, all of these things are small details that could go a long way in improving the CCM experience (which I do really like as a whole). Maybe I'm a nitpicker but these things tend to take me out of the game. Obviously it's too late for M13 but hopefully these things, most of which were in past Maddens, can be included in future editions sooner rather than later.

What does every one think?

Re: Missing Details in CCM

I'll throw in some ideas.

-assistant coaches / coaching staffs / coaching career progression, both up the ladder from position coach to head coach (Mike Singletary), and also back down the ladder again (Mike Singletary)

-more NFL roster mechanics; ex. restricted free agency, waiver system if a player without the required amount of vested years in the NFL is released, exclusive vs non-exclusive franchise tag, practice squad, 46 active players on gameday, futures contracts if my team doesn't make the playoffs, PUP list

-in an online CCM, the ability to look into my friend's game in-progress; ideally live as a true spectator mode, but a good first step might be simply displaying the SuperSim interface, as if the game were displayed on NFL.com

-more detailed depth charts; let me assign slot receivers, nickel back, split ends, flankers, left and right cornerback, depth at both 3-4 ILB positions, and so on

-ability to use a custom gameplan within CCM

-more data tracking of users in an online CCM; I should be able to scout my opponent's playcalling / personnel deployment tendencies in addition to his roster and depth chart

-revisit the injury system, a la Head Coach 09

-another Head Coach 09 thing, a rare occurrence (Game Changer? I forget the name) where a player might sustain an offseason injury, or prime himself for a breakout year, or suddenly fall off (the latter two would work best if ratings were hidden entirely, otherwise it might be seen as an unfair amount of player progression)

-more dynamic draft boards, particularly in a multi-user CCM context; if ten teams are scouting a 7th-round gem safety heavily, his stock should rise above the 7th round, and Todd McShay / Matt Miller / etc. should tweet something about it in the in-game Twitter feed. Further, the CPU should actually spend scouting points so the same effect may be achieved in a single-player context.

-ability to see a player's skill set in the offseason free agency interface (I'm actually in favor of hiding the ratings in CCM altogether, but I ought to have more information in offseason free agency than name, position, scheme, and OVR)

Custom playbooks.

You can make your own coach from scratch, even use your real face if you want to, you can choose your own schemes and player types, you can do all this yet you can't have your own damn playbook? I already made my own custom one just let me use the friggin thing. Completely ridiculous they left this out

More realistic XP goals
Not everyone has time for 15 min quarters so LBs have some semblance of a chance to get 100 tackles. Give XP in User CCMs for playing good coverage and such, not just when you get stats.

Differentiate 34 and 43 personnel. A 43 DE shouldn't be showing up in my 34 DE scouting, that's as wrong as keeping a WR and a RB in the same spot. They aren't even close to being the same position.

Better FA logic
Why the hell would TJ Lang have low interest in resigning with the packers? He won a superbowl with them, starts every game, and will get paid more by them than anyone else. It makes zero sense that every one of my own players wants to sign else where even if they are prominent players on a SB team.

CCM could be great if they make some simple improvements.

Situational Depth Chart.

Separate the 3DRB into 3DSh and 3DL For long and short yardage situations.

If I have a big bruising running back a la Steven Jackson, I want him in on third and short, but not on third and long. Vice versa with someone like Darren Sproles, great hands out of the backfield, but no strength to plow through the line to get that goalline touchdown.

Re: Missing Details in CCM

I've played through two seasons since being snowed in and I have come across at least five players who have different skin colors in their photos than their player models do.

I know it doesn't affect the player but it's a pet peeve of mine. I wish there was an ability to change the player model or turn that player's photo off and use the blank outline that some players have.

Re: Missing Details in CCM

And how about a detailed transaction log that summarizes by year, team, etc?

One of the things that has always bothered me about Madden is the inability to easily track a player's lineage. There are always players who I'll have on my team for two or three years, let go, and then wonder about later. A transaction screen would give me an easy way to digest player movement without having to hunt each guy down and view his player card. It actually baffles me that the transaction log was removed, and in year's past, I was frustrated that it purged itself after each season.

And this.

History is such an important aspect of football yet it largely goes ignored in Madden. I'd like to easily be able to access the coaching histories of every team, the Super Bowl Champions, past Pro Bowl rosters, Hall of Fame classes, award winners, and so on. You can do some of these things today, but only if you view a player card, which makes the whole thing a big guessing game.

And even then you can't see the years they won such awards or made the Pro-Bowl!

Re: Missing Details in CCM

Does any one know if any of the items I mentioned in the first post has been addressed in M25? I've been trying to stay on top of all news coming out but have probably missed a lot.
